Looking for recommendations on a good vaccuum cleaner. We have two--one for each floor. One is a bag vaccuum and the other bagless. The bag vaccuum is ready to get thrown out. We were thinking of getting a Dyson. Anyone have one of these? Pros/cons?

We recently got a Dyson and love it. It's a bit more expensive than your other vacuums, but we feel it's worth it. We have 3 cats and a dog, so we needed a vacuum with a strong suction. It seems to work in picking up all those pesky little cat hairs. Good luck!

I love love love my Dyson! We've got the purple one - "The Animal". It's great for households with pets - special attachment for upholstery too. I love the fact that it's bagless. It's also MUCH easier to do the stairs now - I sit the dyson at the bottom of the stairs and can go up the entire flight without moving it - it's reach is great! I also like being able to switch it to "bare floor" mode to go over the hardwoods. Here's their website - http://www.dyson.com/range/range_overview.asp?model=DC07
Watch the Best Buy flyers - every once in awhile they put them onsale. I think Target also carries the Yellow model.

Another vote for the Dyson. I also have the animal and with two dogs that shed it's perfect. The suction power is phenominal in both the upright position and when you use the hose.

We got the Dyson Animal about 2 months ago. The other weekend we had a cookout and our guests commented on how the carpets looked "professionally steam cleaned". I've gotta say, the Dyson is an amazing tool. And this coming from a true skeptic!!

Yes, I had my eye on The Animal. We have tumbleweeds of black fur from our big dog all over the house. Driving us nuts! And it's getting close to that time of the year when he blows his coat. grrrrr....Just wanted opinions on whether the money spent on a Dyson was worth it. Thanks!

FYI...we got a slightly different one from the animal model at Costco. It's basically the same thing, but with different attachments. While the animal one costs about 499 at Home Depot, the one at Costco costs about $70 less. Just thought I'd pass that along. The one from Costco works just as well on cat fur, dog hair, etc.
