Interested in your opinion...do you think the HOA board would approve this??

Okay so I am addicted to HGTV... I love watching those landscaping shows! Do you think the HOA board would allow me to re-design my driveway and walkway to my front porch with brick pavers? Or a combo of cement and brick? I don't see that around my southern walk neighborhood but was wondering if anyone has seen this around Broadlands in general? I know the HOA board likes to keep everything the same and within the design of the house (and I'm not complaining - believe me), but I have seen this on tv and in other neighborhoods and thought it looked really nice.

Any thoughts?

I've seen some houses here in Broadlands who have replaced their sidewalk leading up to their house with brick and also some driveways with brick along the edge. It does look nice.

Great. I was just wondering before I would bother to seek approval. I don't have a cement driveway, I have that blacktop stuff. And I wasn't sure if they would base their descision on my neighorhood or if it was allowed within Broadlands itself. Thanks.

They base it on what you want to do. You need to follow the design guidelines. We had a concrete strip to stone stoop, had that pulled up and now have the curving stone walkway. They apporoved that with now problem.

beachgal, speaking for myself...

Walkways are usually approved as far as materials are concerned, and if one is not significantly changing the original footprint.

Driveways are a separate matter however. Directly from the homeowners manual:

"Additions/alterations to existing driveways/parking pads must incorporate the same material, color and detailing as the original driveway/parking pad."

Please do submit an application as each stands on its' own merits. Please be as detailed as possible and provide any pics of the materials you wish to use.
