Does anyone know of any good children's photographers in the area? I've been to JCPenney's and they do an OK job, but I'd like to find someone who will take a little more time and care in getting a great picture.

Hi Jerikoa: I don't know what area is convenient for you, but I have a friend with five kids who is very big on regular portraits. I'd be happy to ask her and post, because she does it so regularly she's always got the latest special, as well as how it turned out.

Jeroika-
Doug's wife's website is great and the work looks excellent---but if you're looking for something in-between a JC Penney and a professional studio photographer, we've used Picture People at the mall. I've found their photos to be brighter and clearer than a JC Penney or a Sears and all they do is pictures--so you don't have some random employee filling in behind the camera. They always make my little one laugh and I've never been disappointed with their pics--for the price. And they always send lots of coupons in the mail!

Hi Lori,
I am a photographer in Broadlands who specializes in children's black & white photography - and I think my rates are very competitive. However I usually operate a little differently as I do photo "parties". The hostess invites a minimum of 4 of her friends to bring their kids over - not all at once - to have their pictures taken. Then about 2 weeks later we get together again (usually on a weekday evening) for the proof party to view proofs and place orders. The hostess benefits are wonderful and include a free sitting (for the entire family) and free enlargements. If you are not interested in hosting a party, I will also do custom sessions at your home. If you are interested please give me a call at 703-726-9414 and I can go into more detail. My company also has a web-site with a photo gallery so you can see our style of photography at www.cookseykeepsakes.com.
Take care,
Caryl Maltese
Hi Lori,
My name is Kim and I am a photography enthusiast in Ashburn. I'm currently working on my portfolio to eventually go professional and so far I've photographed a toddler and a newborn and some others here and there. I'd be willing to shoot for free and provide you with all of the negatives if you haven't found someone already.

We have some wonderful portraits of our kids taken by Doug Mattice of Mattice Signature Portraits here in Broadlands (on Goodwin Court across from Hillside). His email is matticesig@aol.com.

Just wanted to provide an update on this. Kim came down to our place on a weekend and had an photo-session with my daughter. We are very happy with the quality of pictures that Kim took, she not only provided us with online proofs for editing but also provided all the negatives on media in a very short time.
She was very professional in her approach and was very affectionate to my daughter. My daughter had a very good time with her while they were doing the photo-shoot. Would highly recommend her.

Hello I am a portrait artist. Most of my commissioned work is of children, however I've done families, homes, and pets. My final piece is a watercolor painting. I usually start by coming to your home and taking photos. The photo shoot takes about and hour or so and the finished painting is usually finished in 1-3 months. I have also worked from exisiting photos. I charge by the size of the painting and I have the capabilities to create very high quality reproductions of the finished product. So you can order some smaller versions to give as gifts or to create greeting cards. Feel free to take a look at my website for samples of my work.
