Anyone know a good accountant to come to your house and do your taxes? Just basic stuff really and $?
Also looking for a lawyer in local area to draw up will/living will/trust.
THanks

turbo tax is really easy to use, and they were bundling their Will Maker software with it this year ;)

hberg....I live nearby in Loudoun Valley Estates and licensed in mortgages/refinance, investments, mutual funds, IRAs/401K rollovers, annuities, and term/permanent insurance. I'll see if I can locate a reputable attorney. Email me at tim_nguyen9@yahoo.com with any ?s.

If you haven't found an attorney yet, let me know. My sister works for a Law firm in Herndon and they can help you out.

We ended up using H&R Block again this year. WE overheard someone writing off a whole house humifider, but that must be if they are selling or is rental property? I thought you could not write off things like repairs/decks/basements etc...

I believe that is accurate. I don't even think you can "write off" capital improvements to a rental property, though. I think you have to depreciate the cost over the life of the unit (something like 10-15 years). It's almost not worth it.
If you used a home equity loan to pay for the humidifier, though, you could write off the interest on the loan.
