View Full Version : Incident in subdivision next to MCI?
Anyone happen to know whats happening over in that subdivision off Waxpool right before you get to MCI (the one with the giant expensive houses)? I was going to Wegmans and a firetruck was turning in there...and I passed four more headed that way before I got there. I drove down in there on the way back (nosy) and they had the entire street blocked off with firetrucks and one of them had it's ladder extended from the street to the second story window but I couldn't get close enough to see what was happening. There wasn't any smoke and I didn't see any water in the street, so I was thinking gas leak...but four fire trucks, three cops, and two chief vehicles seems a bit extreme for that. Anyone have any insight?

There was a house fire in that subdivision. We smelled the smoke on Waxpool and followed our noses. The house was still on fire when we got there. The house is probably a total loss. Very sad... They didn't even have time to get the car out of the driveway. I asked around and a neighbor told me that everyone had gotten out safely, so there's the good news.

the one on Ashburn Road in old Ashburn may be the closest. I know they turned down the proffer of land next to St Theresa's. I think because they're building one south of Broadlands and North of brambleton.

There is actually a satelite fire station in the office complex across Waxpool from MCI. I believe they are there until the new station gets built somewhere near the Home Depot.

Moorefield Station is where the new F/R station will be. Don't know exactly where in Moorefield it will be, but that's why they turned down the location in Broadlands next to St. Theresa's.
It will be built within the next few years, I believe.

What are YOU listening to?
Thanks for the info. There were a bunch of lookie-loos so I didn't want to complicate the situation further.

Are you with the fire department or just there to get in their way?

Just their to get in their way. I made sure I parked in front of the fire hydrant as well. Wouldn't want them to have easy access to it...;)

I heard (third hand, so take with a grain of salt) that the fire was started by a child who was playing with a grill lighter and a blanket caught on fire.

Should have called 911 first, then evacuated.
FWIW ... sprinklers are not usually an option offered by the builders around here.
And fire extinguishers, well, they look so tacky next to my designer wallpaper [}:)]
