I tried posting this in reply to an old topic so I wouldn't start a new thread. But, I didn't like the catagory it was under so I'm posting again. Sorry about that!

Here's what the post said...

By any chance, did anyone have their dog at Old Mill Pet Care over this past weekend (5/9-5/12)? I had my dog there and now he is extremely ill. I just wanted to know if anyone elses dog is having a problem if they were there. Thanks.

Oh no! I was just getting ready to take mine in for the weekend of the 25th. Please let me know what's happened. I'm so sorry to hear about your dog. Thanks.

Well, I personally wouldn't take my dog back there again! I was wondering if he'd be alive when we woke this morning. It seems he got into something that poisoned him! Last night he started with bloody vomit and stool. He was able to eat a bit of food this morning, which he kept down. We're watching him closely. I'm going to call the kennel back again with an update! This was our first experience there...and our last!

Have you not taken the dog to a vet/emergency care place yet?

We talked to the vet this morning. He's doing ok right now. Will go in immediately if it starts up again.

Glad he's doing better.

We have had positive experiences with kenneling our cats at Old Mill.

I'm not saying your dog didn't pick something up while there, but I wouldn't overlook the possibility that it is just a coincidence.

I had read past posts and alot of people liked Old Mill and that's why I tried them. I have no doubt he picked up whatever it was there. This dog is always at my side (that's just his personality) and there is nothing for him to get into in the house. He hasn't gotten loose (unless he did there) and we always leash him. I'm sure it wasn't intentional but something happened.

Have you contacted the kennel to see what they have to say ??

I sure did. They insist that nothing happened there and that he was acting fine. It's a load of crap. Timing for reaction of the poisoning proves it happened there. I'm completely nauseated at their denial. Anyway, the dog is doing much much better and actually ate a normal dinner tonight! And, his poop is pretty much back to normal. I just won't ever go back there and would never recommend them. It's too bad, it seems alot of people like it there.

We've boarded our dog there three times now. We used to take him to Club Pet but the same thing happened to him there that you're describing, and we always paid for a bath and he stunk to high heaven when we picked him up. We've had nothing but positive experiences with Old Mill. Guess something like this can happen at any kennel...

I know it can happen anywhere. And, I'm glad you've had positive experiences with Old Mill. It just makes me sad. I'm glad your dog is ok, too!
