I'm curious to hear from folks how the opening of the additional lanes on Waxpool from Route 28 to Loudoun County Parkway has helped out. During non-rush hour times, it appears to be very nice and allows the traffic to flow much, much better (especially on Waxpool westbound where all the traffic mergers at Pacific Ave).

I don't drive it in rush hour, so I'm interested to hear if there's been any positive effect either direction...

Traffic definitely flows better, but schools also let out last week and that usually reduces a lot of the summer traffic as well.

Either way, I'll take it! :)

I usually travel to Herndon around 8 AM and come back around 5 PM ..and I noticed a big big improvement ....
I gather once waxpool / 28 South exchange is complete ..it will be even better ( keeping my fingers crossed ) :)

positive sure but as lags stated, it coincided with end of school so its hard to determine what the true effect is. East bound right lane exit to 28 still gets backed up but I get to cruise past in the left lane to 28N.

it seems to me that the wegman's and aol lights screw up the westboard traffic the most (backing it up onto 28)... even when the flyover lane opens, the bottleneck will be the wegmans light.... they need a cloverleaf there too =) Or is there some magic they're planning to fix that?

I think the jury will be out for a while on the impact. At the same time the lanes opened, school let out. Traditionally, school being out leads to a significant reduction in traffic. I don't think a judgement can be made until after school starts again.

I still want them to reverse whatever change they made to the lights on Rt 28 at sterling blvd and the other about 4-6 months ago. AFter the interchanges opened, Rt 28 was a breeze through there in the evening rush. Now.. its stop and go most of the way all the way up past the last light every night.

Whatever they did there.. they hosed up a good thing :(
