My wife and I recently moved into Overland Park, and with all the rain, VM was unable to lay any Sod.
Well, after about 3 weeks the sod was installed last evening. I have not been able to get through to VM Cust. Svc, so if anyone has instructions on caring for the sod, I would greatly appreciate the info.
Thanks,
Peter Kahn
Water it. Then fertilize this fall. Check the internet like Scotts Lawn.

For the first week you want to try and water it everyday. The sod has no root system in the top soil so it can not retain water very well, thus you need to water everyday. They also recommend to water it so much that it will "squish" when you walk on it. Then make sure to fertilze it in the fall like the previous post states. But right now, water is a "big" deal on fresh sod.

;)The people at both Home Depot and Lowes are all very helpful also you might search the internet - lots of info on all kinds of sod problems also Loudoun County Extension office.
Trick I learned to get a call through to the ghosts at VM Customer Service (now there is an oxymoron) is to use my cell phone - no caller ID!! Works more often than not - Carl, Ken and Mark just love to hear from me!!
