Hello
We have just moved in Broadlands and plan to do the following things.

1. Install Garage door openers

2. Maybe install a in-built humidifier near the A/C for the lower level of the house. On the upper-level we plan to use the portable ones.

The question I had is looks like if we do the above things I "lose" my warranty on the garage door as well as my A/C unit. This was told to us by the Van-Metre customer care.

Would like to hear from others in Broadlands on this issue. I am sure there are many who have installed the garage-door openers if not the in-built humdifier. Have you all waited for the one year of warranty to finish to do those things. How do you handle warranty in such cases.

Hoping someone can throw some light on this.

Thanks
Sandeep

My understanding is if you have the same contractors that VM used to install those items, your warranty is safe. But if you do it yourself or use a different contractor then they'd probably nitpick & say your warranty is void. What a silly process they make us go through!

VM contractor charge as much as he wants. Real pain, Hate this builder politics and they never favor residents.

Install the garage door opener. I have never heard of or witnessed a door getting damaged due to the opener.
