When we bought our house we were advised to be sure and get a termite contract prior to our one year anniversary. We were told that this area of Loudoun County was known for termites and that we should take this additional measure to protect our investment.

I'd appreciate any comments/insights on whether it really is necessary to get such a contract and whether anyone has had any problems with termites. Lastly, for those who endorse getting a termite contract, can they recommend a good company?

Thanks!

Carol:

We added a Sentricon Termite Baiting system around our home. I am very pleased with the Sentricon product BUT I do not recommend the installer/monitoring by Terminex. Without bashing them too badly, let's just say it has been a battle.

as for a "contract" or "bond", you should be able to contact the company that provided the initial "bond" and extend it on an annual basis for $75 ~ 100

Is this found in closing paperwork?

Thanks so much . . . my next question is the same as Speckhard's... where do you identify the entity that provided the initial bond?

Regards,
Carol
