Hey Bob,
I saw the lawn and garden folks out there yesterday with a spreader. I just ran outside and sure enough I can see those little white balls on my lawn. Now whether or not it is weed and feed I don't know.:)

Most likely it's weed and feed or just feed. It's put down in early spring. Can someone tell me if they mow the front yard in SW? I know they don't cut the back but I think the builder said they do cut the entire front.

Teak-
I can only speak for where I live in the Courtyards. They do cut the front lawn. Additionally as I understand it they will cut the back as long as your yard is not fenced in. I believe the contract was renegotiated recently to include back lawns. I am uncertain if this pertains to all of SW

What? Does this include all homes? I have heard nothing of it.

Wick,
I don't understand which what?:) What to mowing and mulching front lawns? Back lawns? Weed and seed? I'm not sure what you mean but I can say we live in th Courtyards and they mow and mulch the front, side and backyard.

Last year they mowed the front and back yards regardless of whether fenced in or not and regardless of whether there was a double gate on the fence or or just a single one. Hopefully this will continue this year. I looked at the bags they were spreadinig yesterday and it said fertilizer, thankfully as I'm hoping to put some grass seed down this weekend and don't want a herbacide killing the seeds. Also I think this mowing service is just for the Courtyards for which we pay an additional fee to the hoa.

Wasn't sure about the fertilizing, but they do mow the entire lawn with the new contract. They also mulch twice a year. Once already and I am not sure when they do it in the fall.
And yes, it is for Southern Walk residents only.

I have lived in Southern Walk since July '03 and everyone on my street (obviously, including myself) takes care of their own yard. After reading the initial e-mails in this thread, I was wondering if the yardcare thing was something new for us SW dwellers. However, jaeris seems to have answered my question in that the lawncare service is only for the Courtyards and not all of Southern Walk. Since we don't live in the Courtyards, then I guess I have to keep mowing my own lawn. @#$%!

Might I suggest, since there seems to be some confusion, that someone contact Wes and/or the Broadlands Newsletter and ask that something be written in the next issue clarifying what homeowners in Southern Walk, as well as Broadlands North, can expect in regards to 'lawn care', etc? Living in Broadlands North, I know that only common areas are maintained, but there definately seems to be some confusion in regards to SW. And if areas are supposed to be maintained through a contract and are not, I sure would like the HOA to know about. It's our money folks...
