i'm curious as to what you classify as fresh American and fresh Italian take out.

From Manahattan's I've had outrageously good pasta delivered- their eggplant was crazy tender and the chicken parm...? fahgeddaboutit!

American- I think deli- and i agree with you there- without Puccios there is no deli. Spicy Pickle makes a good take out sandwich, but that's all I can think of...

    so what's your definition? :)

I don't know what the original poster had in mind but I miss having a solid meat and vegetables place. It's hard to find a place to eat out that serves vegetables or at least more than one kind. I miss Black-Eyed Pea. There are a few that serve veggie choices (Logan's Roadhouse) but I miss the kind of place where I can get green beans, corn, broccoli-rice casserole, red beans and rice all as an entree. Or even a pot-roast smothered baked potato. Home cookin'.

Oh, and I miss Schlotzky's too.

i am with you there- home country cookin and veggies lightly steamed that still have NUTRIENTS in them... that's what MY kitchen has to be!

if you know Schlotzky's- ever heard of Runza? there was an interesting meat pocket! lol

Does anyone know if the Old Dominion Pub at the Dulles Airport is still there? With public transport, it might pay for my friends and I to start going there for our Old Dominion fix.

On the italian I have been scared of Manhattan given that it is owned by the same folks that own the Blues Brothers BBQ joint...

What i mean for italian - Freash mozzeralla, fresh eggplant, home made fresh ingredients (and desserts)....

For Fresh American - I do mean vegetables, grilled chicken, hearty home made high quality food, fresh sandwiches, etc.....

I guess I want something close to home (in broadlands) or something that delivers... I just feel like a lot of our local restaurants cook frozen pre packaged foods. My wife and used to always get food from the a place in NJ called delicious heights....

Is the Brambleton theater closed? We just went to buy tickets online for Madagascar 2 and the tix.com website says they are no longer open and asks if I would like to permanently remove them from my list. Have I been in outer space or is this news to anyone else?

I don't think they are owned by the same people. Manhattan and Del Rey were owned by members of the same family, but I think the BBQ place is completely different people.

Same family, different family members own the places, the family members that owned Del Ray are not the same family members who now own BLuz Bros- but why would that scare you?

Manhattan's is quite good- their eggplant and other pasta dishes are excellent. The Man and The Boy both love their pizza, and i think their gyros are in the top 3 in town!

It's gone. Been for months now. And now Old Dominion brewery itself is closing. They are going to be brewing it in Dover, DE now (still calling it "Dominion", but the brew-chef (brewster?) is not making the move, so basically any new flavors are Dover brews. No longer local. Sucks.

Per my husband, a big fan of Dominion, about a year ago, it was sold to an independent co. which is owned by Budweiser.

False alarm on Burapa Thai being closed. I could have sworn it was closed and a sign in the window, but I'm told it is still open. My bad. (I would have edited the original post but I don't have the rights for some reason)

Fox Cinemas was purchased by Regal. You need to go to Fandango to get tickets at:
