I have found that Yen's food does not travel particularly well. My DW didn't really like them, until I got her to eat in the dining room there. Then she was like...."YUM!" :p

Now that you mention it, I've had that problem with to go food from other places. We used to do the drive up pick up from Ruby Tuesdays because it was convenient but it never was as good as actually eating there. And that's saying something since, while Ruby Tuesday's is okay if you're into that it isn't fabulous or fancy food to begin with. Haven't been there in years...

When we ate at Yen's we ate at the restaurant and part of the good experience was the service and hot from the kitchen food. Plus one of the waiters made a tiny paper swan (origami) for our daughter, which she thought was cool. And they gave us free stuff!

I've never had Cafe Opera to go - we always eat there - how well does it travel home?

travels well but they also deliver, usually under the time they quote when ordering.

Yen's gives good amounts but, after a talk with owner about how Taiwan style wasn't as sweet, their food was too sweet and not enough other flavor and it was still warm when it got it home.

It seems the portions are smaller maybe due to the size of the containers.

I've talked to the owners of Cafe Opera before. Their portions are probably 10% smaller than some of the other Chinese around (I did find them comparable to Yen's though). This is evidently due to the fact that they try very hard to use the best ingredients they can get. She told me they once fired their seafood providers 3-times in two weeks because the quality was bad. I personally am willing to get a little less food for better quality.

We have Cafe Opera fairly often ( delivery ) and we are pleased with their delivery time and quality of food.

You are right, portion is slightly less than other chinese carry out. However, we do not mind since quality / taste / customer service more than makes up for it.

    Give them a try.

We use Cafe Opera delivery also and are very happy with it. I always chuckle when she tells me that my food will be delivered in 30 minutes. HA! It seems like as soon as I hang up I better start getting out the plates and silverware as the food arrives a lot sooner.

    Cafe Opera is good eats!
