What does winning a raffle have to do with the current situation? And shouldn't your so-called BS have been directed towards VM who actually AWARDED the house???

Oh boy, not again. It still does not take a rocket scientist to make the connection. Yes, I still believe there was a little too much back scratching going on. I'm not even going to attempt to explain it....... again.

I do wonder what happened to the free house if he fled the country (as the word of mouth indicates).

Not sure why you have to assume there is a connection at all.

Bad people can get lucky too. Specifically referring to the raffle.

Wow... just wow. I guess this is why criminals (Madoff, Ebbers, Lay) can get away with it for so long. People just turn a blind eye to the facts and assume......luck?

Can we play poker sometime? :)

I am not saying Al-Atari is a good guy or bad guy since I do not know him from Adam, but what facts can you cite that prove VM and he were in cahoots? If you can provide just one fact, I could be swayed to your assumption or "opinion". JUST ONE FACT!

And if there WAS one fact, I do believe that law enforcement would have gotten involved and it would be all over the media.

As for poker, I would LOVE to play as it seems to me that you could be easily bluffed. ;)

I'll just say that I've heard some rumors as well. And I've always wondered how someone who owns a few restaurants here and there could afford such a lavish lifestyle. Guess I wasn't the only one wondering...

    1. Plunks down millions in a VAN METRE community and then is handed a $415K credit.

    2. Donated big time to Snow's campaign (same year). Snow was in bed with VM during development boom.
    http://loudounextra.washingtonpost.com/blogs/living-loco/2007/nov/07/inside-post-election-parties/

    3. VM benefits off the sale of homes in community where OSH business is booming.

    4. "When the name in the Grand Prize drawing for this townhome was announced, the gentleman who came forward to receive the oversized key looked completely nonplussed. It was if he had just won a cup of day-old coffee. First we thought he must be in shock, but then he took the key and began to walk away before pictures were taken and a big deal was made. Those of us in the crowd didn't know how to react. We wanted to cheer and clap, but we were so taken aback by his reaction. It was a complete let-down. We ended up making a big deal over the next few finalists who won American Express giftcards and then the three who won Redskins gift baskets."

    5. VM spelled his name wrong on all press releases.

    6. Embezzled and laundered money.

    7. http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2008/jan/04/ex-security-chief-admits-falsely-deputizing-cohort/

    8. Fled country.

I think #4 is the one that does it for me the most. Even Mark Cuban (owner of the Mavericks and billionaire) still gets excited when he wins. This guy just looked as if it was all planned out. If something smells fishy, it usually is.

But hey, maybe it was just luck. Not so lucky now, eh!

If he is/was in cahoots with Van Metre, why did he build a 3+ million dollar home from Toll Brothers?

If he was involved in a shady contest, don't you think he would have been smart enough to fake the emotions for the camera?

Neighbor has made it a point to continue to go after Osama, maybe he was served some bad food there or something one time, regardless we can all see that Neighbor has an agenda and isn't happy until we all agree that Osama is (whatever Neighbor wants us to believe).

I found the answer to my question:

"El-Atari's parents moved to Loudoun County from Jordan in the early 1970s. His father, Mike, in addition to buying the Buffalo Wing Factory in Sterling in 1997, worked at the counter for Delta Airlines at Dulles International Airport before he retired."

    http://washington.bizjournals.com/washington/stories/2007/01/15/story7.html

Not too many millionaires work the counter at Delta Airlines at Dulles before retiring.

    From another message board...

"Right now, we need your support. Instead of passing along the bad info, you can support us now that that element is gone from the business. The new owner is Marvcus Patton, an ex- NFL player for the Bills, Skins, and Cheifs. He is a very good guy and has gone out of his way to step up and take care of us, I am asking that you help us out and keep our business alive. Dont let us go down because of what Osama chose to do. That is over and done and in the past. We are moving forward and have a very good staff of managers bartenders servers cooks ect. We are not involved in illegal activity and are all very upset to be portrayed that way so SUPPORT US NOW THAT YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE SUPPORTING AND WHAT YOU ARE NO LONGER SUPPORTING! HELP US DONT HURT US ESPECIALLY RIGHT NOW IN THIS ECONOMY! I put my real name and e-mail address up because i care about this and what i do. Feel free to contact me or come by the bar and talk to me!!! Thank you in advance for your support"

We've never had a bad experience at OSH and go there probably more often than any other restaurant in the area.
