How gross are these things? Not only do they lurk around the neighborhood and eat trash, they have actually woken us up in the morning on our roof!

Same here! They love to sun themselves on the rows of townhomes behind Hillside early in the morning. I have also noticed that they are messing with the gutters, and believe it or not, drop 'hairballs' here and there that blow off the roof and onto our deck. YECH!

I'm guessing you don't lay out on the deck much!! :rolleyes3: I would hate for them to mistake sleeping for dead!

Yes, the hacked up hairballs are GROSS. Yesterday there were EIGHT of those nasty birds across the street. They give me the creeps.

That's great Cliff; you can come over to our street and pickup all the trash they pick apart (yes, I know, people should be using trashbins, different conversation...). You can climb up on our roofs and clean all the poop they leave behind. You can come over at 5am and tell them to be be quiet and not run around on the roof because folks are trying to sleep. You can come over and pickup the slimy hairballs they drop all over the place.

Sure, they're cool when you don't have to deal with the issues...

They are part of nature. As scavengers, they eat stuff that we really don't want hanging around.

Concerning the trash issue, don't blame the animal, blame the human. The Vultures are only doing what nature intended them to do.

Anyone know if we can put up those spiky things on the roof, to prevent the birds from landing there. We have the vaulted ceilings, so we hear every move they make and it drives me nuts.

It's quite a spectacle when you see 5 or 6 on a roof with their wings open and warming in the sun. They look like gargoyles.

Ahh, I don't know he's kinda cute in an "only a mother could love that face" kind of way...What was really funny was one of my cats was chittering at him like he was prey! Reminded me of Foghorn Leghorn and the Chicken Hawk..."I say, I say, son..."

I am with Cliff. They are amazing birds. I think what people have a hard time with is their diet, but as a creature they are fascinating.
