i've enjoyed EVERY pasta meal I've ever had at Sal's, the chicken parm is outrageously good, and my son lives for his zeppolis. if you are picky about pizza and it's not your style- his sandwiches and other entrees are GREAT. outdoor seating, walking distance from the hood- it's a great place to have in the 'hood.

Rubinos and Ledos I hear? Where are they? I have also not had a great experience at Sal's and honestly would take domino's over going there. I hate the Safeway parking lot, Sal's pizza is too expensive and is just really an average pizza to me, and the counter help you always feel like you are bothering them. Domino's may just be average pizze but it's cheap and hot. I also never get attitude from them.

Rubino's is in Ashbrook Commons shopping center with Harris Teeter and HomeGoods at the intersection of Ashburn Blvd and Route 7.

I've been to Sal's once to pick up an order. The 13 year old boy behind the counter didn't take his eyes off the movie playing on the TV above the cash register. It almost seemed like I was bothering him by giving him my money. Haven't been back since.

Love Ledos! Love Rubinos! But they are totally different types of pizza. Ledos is for your sweet tooth, and Rubinos is delicious non-greasy fresh tasting brick-oven type pizza. I can't believe more people don't rave about Rubinos - maybe people haven't found it yet?

Maureen-I have to agree about the service at Ledo's. Not sure if it was your son, but we had excellent service and delicious food when we went this past summer!!

Oh, and I do have to give a shout out to Zero's subs, just down from Ledo's (I know it is competition), but they have awesome, warm subs!

I tried Sal's last night. I wanted to like it but, it was terrible. We ordered a meatball sub, a sausage with onions and peppers sub, chicken tenders and zeppolis. The subs were under seasoned and the sausage sub was made not with a link of Italian sausage but, with slices of the sausage pizza topping. Horrible! The only thing that we enjoyed at all were the zeppolis. They were delicious. Both the meatballs and the sausage looked undercooked.

Oh I love Rubino's pizza too! I actually haven't eaten at the one in Ashburn but only the one in Herndon. I would imagine their food would be the same though and their pizza is my favorite!

Yeah, a friend of mine told me about Rubino's, and it's really good. We never go out to eat, but we've gotten pizza there a few times in the last couple months. I love Ledo's too, but the previous poster is right-- they're completely different. Both good, just different.

We used to go to Sal’s often, and were thrilled when we saw the sign that they were now delivering! We tried the delivery a few times before giving up on the place entirely… not only did the order taker have an attitude over the phone, but we were informed that the “driver isn’t in today”, or “we’re backed up and it’ll be awhile…” When pressed on what “awhile” meant, the order taker actually said: “I really can’t call it, just awhile.” Ummmm, ok. Needless to say we politely passed, and called Manhattan’s. They also deliver, their pizza is good and we’ve been going to them for at least 9 yrs anyway. Sal’s has got to take customer service more seriously. Residents in Ashburn expect better service by a mile. The food isn’t good enough to where I can’t do without. I like Ledos, I like Manhattan, and I can certainly cook at home. Not sure if this is their first restaurant outside of NY, but here in VA (which is technically a Southern state, filled with many southerners like myself) hospitality is critical.

A little over a year ago, I actually offered to trade website services to Sal for food because I love their pizza. Nothing ever came of it, but the offer still stands.
    Thanks,
    Mike

Just curious, has anyone been to Sal's lately? Have they improved their customer service at all? I just read through this thread again and I didn't see where the Spata family addressed any of the many complaints about the poor counter help.

We used them once for delivery - and yes the attitude was there, put on hold forever, and incredibly slow delivery. Pizza was average so we are sticking with Wegmans pre-made frozen pizza.

We went recently and the counter guy was improved. A bit of small talk and a smile.
