American Flatbread is closing

    So sad, two more great restaurants are closing... and yet places with terrible food and service, but giant TVs continue to remain open. I will never understand why excellent mom and pops (excluding Chinese restaurants and sports bars) seem destined to fail in ashburn.

    I guess its because of rising rents? Or perhaps they are located too far south of Ashburn? Not sure....but I wasn't really impressed with American Flatbread's menu selection and there are tons of Thai restaurants all over the Northern Virginia area....Its a bummer when mom/pops close down...its hard on them if the cashflow is weak....

    Oh no! This is nuts. Mind you, can't say I visited either. I always heard Anothai and Bangrak are the best Thai food restaurants in the area. Sad to hear that Anothai didn't make it.

    I hope Bangrak stays strong, we'll die if we don't get our Thai kick!

    Oh no! I love those places- apparently not enough though. Very sad. Any idea when they are closing?

    My wife is a Thai herself and she's got many other favorite places that are REALLY good...

    That is bad news, a real shame. Losing restaurants like those will not help our property values - but we are all to blame if we can't support good restaurants like these.

    Anothai is NOT closing. PLEASE BE MORE MINDFUL ABOUT WHAT YOU POST ON THE PUBLIC. This kind of post does nothing to our business. We are doing everything we possibly can to survive in this crazy economy and the last thing we need is UNTRUE and BAD press. I know people like to feed on bad news but please put yourself in our shoes. If you were the business owner, would you like to hear this?

    Well that's great news that you're staying! We love Anothai, if I could edit the title in this post I would, but it won't let me.

    Flatbread's last day is Sunday, and their 4 year anniversary is Saturday, so get out and support them, send them off proud! It's so sad to see them go, how many ashburn restaurants do you know that serve humane, local, seasonal food?

    Honestly, the conept of flatbread was good, and the food was fresh and tasy....however, the menu was so limiting for such a big space....

    I really think a nice cafe / sandwich shop restaurant (ala eggspectation) or something like not your average joes would do quite well....look at bonefish as the example it is always busy
