My family went to El Sol on Sunday afternoon and our experience at the restaurant was less than thrilling. We were seated immediately, however the table was visibly dirty, the benches were sticky & full of crumbs, and even after we requested the table to be cleaned off it was still gross. My husband asked again if they could please clean the the table and this time a manager came and did it. The chips, salsa, and guac were good. The real food we ordered took 45 minutes to come out and did not taste like much of anything. The decor is lovely but an over-haul in food service standards, cleaning, and staff training would help improve the restaurant. We will not be returning to dine there.

I was there with my family on Labor Day for lunch and very much enjoyed the visit. Everything was fresh, staff was very polite and the place met our expectations. My husband has been there on 2 other occasions and says the same thing about his other visits. Besides, they have the coldest Dos Equis Amber on draft! What's not to like.

We went once and will try them again at some point. However the Margaritas seemed a bit overpriced, so we will keep our eye out for any advertised drink specials.

Our family went to eat at El Sol about a month ago and it was really good. We went early on a Saturday, about 5 and had no wait. Waiter (Christian?) was very friendly, food was yummy and we were out in about 45 min. I'm excited to go back and I don't often say that!

Tried tonight for the first time. Fairly crowded - about a 30 minute wait at 8pm. Food not outstanding but decent. Service good. Prices reasonable - with tip about $31 for 2 including one beer. All in all, better than the place in the Broadlands Plaza and worth re-visiting.

Went back again last week. No complaints.
They even took my comment to heart after my first visit and they now offer a real -sized draft beer!

I think they were comparing it to Los Toltecos, in the Safeway shopping plaza...

Surprised to hear you say that! I don't think Los Teltecos is even close to Sol Azteca.

well... while toltecos has never wowed me, they haven't been disappointing either. azteco on my one visit was decent, but nothing special.

the most impressive non chain mexican restaurant in loco for me has been los tios in leesburg, fresh, flavorful, cheesy greatness!

Old thread I know, but we ate there for the first time tonight with friends. All 4 of us were not impressed. Food was just okay and too salty. Frozen lime margarita was too sweet and tasted like it had no alcohol in it at all. We've decided for the lower cost we'll go back to Los Toltecos, better food and definitely better margaritas.

Oh, and service wasn't that great either. We get great service at Los Toltecos.

we ate there for the first time last week and probably won't go back. They were understaffed, therefore, service was slow. Portions were big but tasted bland. Ordered dessert and found a long piece of hair in the fried ice cream. The place was pretty busy though considering it was the mid week.

Both Ashburn Mexican restaurants are terrible. I'd rather go to Chipotle.

El Sol is a beautiful restaurant I give them that. But they then cheapen it by not cleaning very well and hanging inflatable Corona bottles from the ceiling.

I became concerned with the cleanliness of the kitchen when I had 4 or 5 flies around my table before my food even came out. When it did arrive it was lukewarm and tasteless.

    I will not be returning.
