Just noticed this opened in the Broadlands plaza. Has anyone checked it out yet?

Lunch buffet have been updated. Now they have Spicy South Indian section and Creamy North Indian Section almost 25 plus items full length buffet. Also they started catering and soon they will have INDIAN Pizza.

On Oct 27th 2013 they are going to have "Asli Hyderabadi Buffet" Authentic Hyderabad style dishes. Go to their website www.charminarrestaurant.com or facebook "Charminar Indian Restaurant" for more events.

One of these days I need to go to an Indian restaurant with some folks from India so they can explain and educate me on the different styles from the different parts of India. I just know that I like it!

My husband and I checked it out a few weeks ago. We walked in on a Saturday night to a very loud T.V. And a waitress who handed us a post it note and a pen so we could write down our order. Not cheap, indian typically isn't cheap, but I expect better service if I'm going to spend 50 bucks for dinner. Rangoli in south riding and anthegetti in Herndon have much better service and great food. Can't comment on the food as you can imagine, we didn't stay. Bummed because I love Indian food.

HAA! this was my husband and son's experience also- they were shocked that the waitress told them to write down their orders. Because of the humor of the situation and thinking maybe they were being punk'd, they went along with it and wrote their orders, only to have it come out WRONG. they said the food was quite tasty, but service was comically bad.

I haven't been myself yet- too busy LOVING Saffron in Southern Walk...

We thought that we were being punk'd at first too and honestly, if the TV wasn't so loud and the menus so hard to read under the glass table top, we may have stayed. I didn't feel like working that hard to order dinner. Looks like the buffet is the way to go where you expect to wait on yourself.

I think they have done away with the post it note.. I spoke to a manager and he mentioned that the received lots of feedback that it is not good practice.

We went a couple weeks ago, too. We were handed the lined note pad and pen. The Waitress was greeting guests with her baby on her hip. We thought the portions extremely small for an order for two people - more like appetizers than meals. Food was very good and we will go back to try the buffet.

I been to this restaurant a few times since it started. On the first visit when the restaurant was opened, I was not impressed. I would never have returned to it, but for the fact the one of the owners came to seek my impression of the food. Its a family business. They are waiting for the liquor permit to convert the restaurant into full service dining restaurant.

In the Indian restaurant business for the last 15 years or so, there is a trend to move towards authentic food. Recently Charminar has taken that concept to a new level. Last Sunday's lunch buffet was specialized with dishes from Bezawada/Vijayawada area (Coastal Area in South India). Restaurant was packed and the food was very good. I think on the last weekend (maybe the 4th weekend, call them to confirm) they have Hyderabadi food (another South Indian city known for delicious food). Last month they served some Hyderabadi special dishes which I never had before in USA. They are planning to expand the regional buffets to include more regions.

This restaurant is here to stay.

We tried a new indian resturant in the old shoppers plaza called Delhi 6. It was the best suburban indian food I've had in a while. Just as important, the service was the best, friendly and stealthy.

I was there a couple of weeks ago. I really liked the food, waiter was very accomodating of my limited time to eat. Spinach paneer and chicken tikka, my bellweather dishes at any Indian restaurant were GREAT! Price was even better, compared to another Indian restaurant in Broadlands. I left a good tip.

Underwhelmed. I've tried Charminar on two different occassions for dinner take out. Spinach Paneer should have been called White Pepper Paneer, and the butter chicken tasted like a chopped up frozen Costco chicken breast with some type of sauce poured on top of it.

Would really like to see the place succeed as the folks running it seem very nice. I may give them another shot in a month or so to see if my experience has been related to start up issues.
