Trying to help someone with sending mail via smtp using gmail

The gmail pages say they support both StartTLS (port 587) and straight up TLS (port 465) and you use smtp.gmail.com and your full email address for auth

    https://support.google.com/a/answer/176600?hl=en

But no matter what I do, it's returning auth errors.. yet I know the credentials are right. I do the same test with yahoo's smtp and it works fine.

Anyone with direct experience? @Mike-and-Kim ? @hornerjo ? Either of you use gmail with your camera apps?

Yeah, I figured it out last night that the issue was I was not using an app password and I have two factor auth enabled. Suprised that most of the google hits haven't included this angle.
