Today is the first day open, its a soft opening. The meat dept is just like the butcher in NYC, breads, deli, the best in town. I will be going a lot. I could not believe all the homemade foods they have. They are in Old Ashburn. If you come down Hay road, at the end make a right they are in the next plaza

I stopped in just to see what was going on. Yes, they are still in their "soft open" as much of their stuff wasn't marked, and team members were undergoing some training.

I only hope they last long enough to not regret having chosen the worst retail location in all of Ashburn.

We went there for the first time recently on a Saturday for lunch. The food was wickedly awesome, and the selection of beers and wines and other goodies they had for sale were amazing. Love it. Guarantee we'll be going back.

Dropped in here for the first time about a month ago and was quite impressed. The cuts of meat are probably the best around and the wine selection is rather unique (even carry wines you don't find at Wegman's or Total Wine). This past weekend we purchased six of their filets. Of the six in the case, four were similar in size, so the woman behind the counter called over one of the butchers and he opened up a brand new tenderloin and trimmed it up (with surgical precision I might add) and cut two additional filets to match the others (we were quite impressed!). I've not tried the marinated steak tips, though the marinated Key West chicken and shrimp are definitely something to try! Will definitely be going back.

Why is the location in an ODD place of all things? Traffic there must be light...I would gather they would be located amidst other more trafficked areas. Not only that, but some of the sandwiches are too pricey for my taste. I have seen great delicious food for much less elsewhere. I'd rather eat at the other places that are more convenient than driving out of my way to eat there. Had they been in more convenient places for people to go to, I would believe they would have higher volume business during lunch time since most people who work in office buildings would rather eat close to their offices. Nice concept but location and prices are King.

All the strip malls are anchored by large grocery store chains and they all have do not compete clauses in their leases. So small start up grocery stores and delis have no real chance at a good location. I ride my bike there from Southernwalk to get the best steak and cheese.

By the way, everyone said this place was really expensive. It wasn't cheap, but for Ashburn, not that bad. Remember, we pay 25 cents more for a gallon of gas than any surrounding community. Ah the privilege of living in the Broadlands!

I don't know why anyone would buy gas here! Costco is usually 30-35 cents cheaper, and the stations over in Sterling are typically 10-15 cheaper.

Same price I paid at the Sterling Costco. Note local prices are $2.57 are the Sunoco at Truru Parish and $2.53 at 7 - 11.

Back to the topic at hand... has anyone had the pizza from Wineing Butcher? I went in today for the steak tip sub (super yummy) and learned that they have a brick oven for pizza. There were several folks in there at the time ordering pizza, and it looked good.
