We are looking for a reputable contractor to build a three season porch and deck expansion. Kenny Williams and Holloway have already been out. Any other recommendations? I know there are some threads on this but most are a bit dated.

    Thanks
    Jeremy

P.S. I read that Blue Moon is out of business. Anyone know what happened?

The Deck Hands (http://thedeckhandsllc.com/) did a great job with our recent deck project. Tom Wilson (company owner), along with a co-worker, was at my house the whole time and did not sub out the work.

    Hi Jeremy,

My name is Chris and I'm a resident within the Broadlands community. I also happen to be a landscape designer and work for a great company in the area called Main Street Landscape. Please visit our website, www.mainstreetlandscape.com to see some of the the different projects we've installed over the years. If you like what you see and are interested in sitting down to discuss your project, lets set up a time for us to meet. Please feel free to contact me by e-mail!

    Take care,

    Chris

Be grateful that Blue Moon is out of business, they had a lot of issues to say the least. A lesson learned the hard way for a lot of homeowners around Ashburn. The funny part is that he now is offering his services for the homeowner to help them with their construction project. To "assure" them that they will receive a quality project since there are a lot of bad contractors out there doing business. He should know about bad construction projects most of his projects were terrible quality.

Not surprised Blue Moon is out of business. They did a very nice, high quality bar for me. His tradesmen were actually very good and the quality, after several years, is holding up nicely. His issue was he couldn't manage a job to save his life. I find it hilarious that he would be offering his services to help others with their projects to "assure" they receive a quality project. Stay away.

My deck was done by Virginia Deck as were several of my neighbors. The quote was reasonable (when compared to three other quotes to include Holloway), he showed up each day, cleaned up each day, and did quality work. He is a sole proprietor with helpers, so does one at a time, but the workmanship is good and worth the wait. If you want to see the deck just PM me.

What ever you do, do not hire R&R Remodeling. I hired them because they had good reviews and decided to add on a couple other projects: build a landing, replace the 2 basement windows, and poor a nice 300square feet concrete patio. That was back in August (the first payment was given maybe the 28th..?). Well, the windows are still not in, the concrete slab had to be re-toped because they left marks and the top is now nicely coming off , not counting the shoe prints in it (I didn't even get to enjoy it once!!! In a way, it's nice the top is coming off, it gets rid of the shoe marks! When I sent him pictures, ricky said the sale was perfect and he wasn't changing it...) and the landing looks like the one who built it was a carpenter, very nice, but I had to pay extra to fix it for code sake...
Ricky, the owner, kept being a no show when we made appointments, he even once sent me a picture of himself in traffic at 9am, at tyson's corner, and claimed the traffic held him back until 3 pm... come on... I may be a gullible wants to think every body's nice girl, but that ended up becoming comical... If it had happened only once, or even twice, as long as he would have told me. I even took time off of work to be there and he never showed up...
Just ridiculous and worthy of small claims court... So much hustle... :-(

I can second TheDeckHands... 11 years and our Deck still looks great. The Trexx product was a great choice and glad we spent the money on composite. their work is high quality and no corners cut!!! You know what I mean....
