Because I really wanted to see what all the fuss was about.. I just drove through all of the townhome streets in that corner of the neighborhood. EVERYONE of them had a plowed lane or more - all the way into every dead-end. No they are not cleared curb to curb... most of the county isn't. Your drama is so over played. You're going on and on here because one street is MORE clear than another. That's what you want to hang your identity on? Really?

Huntsman was probably the worst of the bunch.. the rest had nearly clear pavement for one lane and it seemed everyone had dug their way to that lane. In fact, Huntsman was on par with my VDOT road.

I also drove all the way up Ridgeway, and found every street off ridgeway was plowed, and most pretty substantially. Ridgeway is perfect, and most side streets I saw were a wide single lane, if not more.

For comparison.. here is my VDOT street..

That's in the intersection.. its still single lane all the way through.

    The struggle is real...

You should probably start with something more basic.. like the color of the sky in their world..

People seem to forget.. Townhome streets by definition are going to be harder to clear than the SFH blocks. There are more driveways and less open ground to move the snow to. This leads to the bigger piles, and probably tighter quarters until the big piles are moved out or melted. It's going to be more confined. Density does that.

If memory serves, as the cleanup winds down they've gone back in and moved more obnoxious piles.

Based on what I've seen here and in person... just some people want perfectly clean streets or want THEIR street to be the best or first.. or they'll come online to point fingers.

I am willing to call a truce if we agree to disagree. Airing this dirty laundry out any further isn't serving anyone well in this Community. If and when I ever get that invitation to drink a beer, we can talk about this in more civilized fashion.

Another reason our street is "more clear" is because a lot of residents have been out in the street doing shoveling/clearing on their own. Moving piles, trying to get ice patches up, trimming down the walls at the end of driveways, etc. So it wasn't ALL plow that did our street.

image.jpg Can anyone tell me why someone thinks it's safe and ok to park their vehicle, blocking the end of the street?!? I feel for the fact that there is limited parking, but can the HOA do anything regarding the fact this irresponsible and disrespectful person decides it's ok to park in a manner that makes it unsafe for everyone else? This is at Bankbarn and Elzey. And because they are parked like this, the only way to get out of Bankbarn, is to swing left, then right, and pray no one is coming from the right because you can't see around this vehicle. My husband had to leave at 6am this morning for work and thank God his government vehicle was parked on Elzey or he couldn't have made it around this one. Our little car barely did. Come on people, have respect for your neighbors. image.jpg image.jpg

If the car is on Ellzey, then you have to contact the sheriff's office. If it is illegally parked on Bankbarn, you can try calling the towing service number that should be listed on the sign.

Obviously not ideal, but wanted to say something positive here and THANK VDOT and the HOA for all the efforts in trying to do a great job considering the unusually large amount of snow received this time as well as keeping us informed with the email updates. Sorry to see some people in this thread are unhappy (and some pretty snarky - yikes!), but please try to be patient and understanding that this was a record breaking rare amount of snowfall and will take time to clean up and find places for the snow. Thankfully we have had some nice sunny days and temps not too chilly so already some decent melting. In the meantime, grab a shovel and do what you can and be sure to use extra caution walking and driving with all the tall snow mounds in many intersections. Also, we did have TWO suggestions we hope the HOA might consider: 1. Is there a way to have a snow ban on all Broadlands streets during snow days? Having all cars off the streets would make life much easier for plowing. Park in your garage, driveway, or parking lot. 2. We've noticed these other places and wondering is it possible to have sticks added to neighborhood fire hydrants to make them visible in the winter? I cleared ours twice already but the plow just buried it again with a huge mountain. It definitely is hard to see and not blaming the plow driver, but perhaps better visibility on hydrants would help everyone. I am guessing there are probably many other fire hydrants currently buried around the neighborhood. Thank you.

Our street helps each other too. We do have some throwing snow in the street but probably they thought we'd see a plow before this morning. Either way, we have enlightened them of proper snow removal. Just fyi...the plow was on Autumn Wood early this morning again prior to hitting one of the worse streets around here (Huntsman). That's what enrages folks the most.

Enrages folks or just you? You really seem to be keeping tabs on their whereabouts. Maybe you can be plow coordinator for the next storm and ensure that Autumnwood doesn't get plowed at all.

Sorry Sarasmom, but you are a real piece of work. Take a walk, look around then you might be able to speak with a tad bit of knowledge. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to see what has been cleared and not cleared around here. Stop while you're ahead and show a little compassion for others not on Autumn Wood.

You still won't give up with Autumnwood simply because a board member is on it will you? You just can't get away from attacking the board and the HOA.

There are others like this. Seems to me they hate our community, hate the HOA, hate our events and hate the board. They form little 'secret' facebook groups and throw lies all over the place trying to add fuel to the fire. Doesn't work so well when even some of the members don't believe them. But they spread lies about people and groups, share private information about things like school boundaries with our opponents, try to get events like our summer outdoor movie nights for kids stopped by calling the police saying the noise is so loud its knocking down picture frames off their walls and find any avenue they can to attack the hoa and the board... like this snow plowing.

    Pretty sad really.

This has been the worst case of 'me me me me me!!' I've seen on here in a long time. Seriously.. whining about a plow hitting the street next to you before hitting your street.

BTW, I'm sitting here right now with a Huntsman Sq resident and his complaint wasn't the plows (he said there was a plow through early in the storm) but the neighbors dumping their snow into the road.

Your claims haven't held up to any scrutiny at all and your issues being raised have amounted to me 'why am I not the most important'...

Sure hope you aren't referring to my posts. I support many events in the Broadlands Community- overall it's a wonderful place to live with great events (the Disco was a lot of fun), theme nights at the pool, etc. I also helped diffuse the Back to School Teen night at the Southern Walk Pool in 2014 when the cops were called by neighbors and pleaded with him (the officer) to "let the kids have fun". It was 6 in the evening for crying out loud! Yes, we did hear the noise from our house, so says Mrs. Sunstoner!

I've volunteered in many capacities with the swimming Piranhas and even taken on other responsibilities in the association. Be careful not to over-generalize and weigh concerns individually for what value they bring to the table before painting with broad brushes. If you disagree with me, fine, I've put my case to rest, but I hope you don't think I hate our Community. Far from it.

So are we done plowing, cause Larchmont is a one lane disaster, along with WIndover and Milford. I assume the plows are still working?

The preferential treatment on Autumnwood should drive up their property value. That street seems like it is the place to be.

Oh how I wish that was the case i can assure you. Unfortunately, our property values are the same as the other's in similar houses on different streets.
