We liked Big Apple Bagel and miss the place. Any other place around here to get good bagels?

I haven't tried it yet but there is a "Breads Unlimited" shop that now occupies the space where Big Apple was. I hope it turns out to be good!

The answer is 'NO' H&H Bagels, on Ashburn Farm Rd., are very mediocre - it's the only pure bagelry in the area. The reality is that somebody needs to open up a decent shop - it would make an absolute killing. Even an Einstein would suffice.

One tip - Giant sells a frozen bagel called 'Ray's Bagels'. I'm not typically a fan of frozen bagels, but these are better than any you can get fresh in this area. I was pretty shocked.

Don't forget Panera in front of Home Depot. They have a selection of fresh bagels and other breads.

Is H&H the place next to Manhattan Pizza?

I'll have to check out Breads Unlimited, thanks for the tip.

Bagel enjoyment is a subjective experience. However, I thought that Bread Unlimited's bagels were very good and chewy - if one likes that as I do. I also like supporting a non-chain. They are a "small" local bakery with Maryland roots.

Panera has good fresh and tasty bagels that come in many flavors.

It depends on how far you want to travel. The bagel shop where the Bloom is located is OK in a pinch. Bagel Buddies in Fair Lakes is the best in Northern Virginia. It is definitely worth the trip. Bagel City in Rockville was good but has gone downhill since the change in management.
