Since I ragged on Clyde's for not getting back to me, I'll give them props for finally doing so, even though it took over a week. Same, tired story about ownership not wanting TVs being on. Whatever.

We had a small baby shower there the other night and stayed in one of their semi-private rooms. Everyone had a great meal and the service was fantastic. And the room was very cozy - with a fireplace even. Everyone really enjoyed it.

    christinaandrob and others--

We have been back to Clyde's recently (without Kiddos) and enjoyed a great meal for our "date night". Great place to relax--

When we had my husband's birthday party in December at Clyde's--we had good service and food. No complaints here!

Our experience there was not so pleasant as most of you.
We got seated in a 1/2 booth and 1/2 chair, not very cozy. Id prefer all booth or all chairs seating arrangement. We felt like we were outsiders and forced to eat "at the back of the bus". Just very awkward. Those who have sat there know exactly what I am talking about. Its near the wood burning fireplace in the back dining room.

    Service
was, to put it kindly, S-L-O-W. Took 45 minutes just to get the check at the end of the night. Don't ask about how long it took for everything else. 2.5hrs from sitting down to walking out with 90% of that time waiting.
Appetizers, well, they didnt come close to satisfying my appetite. We ordered the BBQ Shrimp for $9 and when it came out we looked at each other thinking, "this is it?". All it was was 4 shrimp, not even jumbo size, doused in a BBQ sauce. I will tell you that it tasted very good though. But 4 little shrimp? As an appetizer? HA!

    Entrees.
Also were not very good. We had NY Strip and BBQ ribs. We had to send the steak back 2 times because it was not cooked right. When I say that Im not being picky. We ordered it medium (just a little pink on the inside), it originally came to us very rare. Only the outside had color and the inside was so rare it had that purple hue to it, not to mention it was bleeding like a severed artery. We sent it back and it came back 10 minutes later, but hardly any better. The purple hue was gone, but it was still bleeding a lot and it was definitely still rare. It came back again in 5 minutes and was cooked correctly, however, it was seared so bad there was no taste to this steak and it was as tough as leather. I wasn't very happy after waiting an hour and 15 minutes to this point. Needless to say I was about done eating my ribs by the time the steak had been squared away.
The BBQ ribs were better (notice I didnt say they were good), but believe me, they were not something you would go out of your way for. The ribs were essentially burnt, but covered over with the BBQ. They were beef, so they were not as tasty and were a bit tough. I was expecting ribs I normally get from SweetWater or Arties. I like theirs because they taste fantastic and fall off the bone like real ribs should. The Clyde's ribs could barely be cut from the bone. The cornbread was very good, the slaw had absolutely no seasoning or taste, the baked beans were good as well.

    Dessert
Best part of the meal, quite tasty.

    Facility
Fantastic building/barn. It was just plain gorgeous. A must see to enjoy and words really can't describe the building inside.
Was it a bad night? Who knows? But it I definitely didnt enjoy much of my dining experience. Will I go back again? Unless I have $80 to throw away again, maybe. Will I probably go somewhere else? YEP
Just an honest and factual experience.

Today I went to Clydes for Dinner with my husband and two kids. WOW what a place, phisical location 10 out of 10. But I must say at 5:30 this evening the place was really slow, and I expected to have great service but that really wasnt the case. We recieved our Apps after our entrees and the food was a 3 out of 10. Maybe they are just getting it together but after 2 months I excpected much better.

We went there Friday night about 8:00. We had eaten at Cafe Panache but wanted to get a drink or dessert at Clyde's. I thought we'd at least be able to get a seat in one of the non-smoking bars. Wrong. It was packed. After trying for 10 minutes to get a parking place, which we finally did, we walked through the restaurant which made us feel like we were back in Vermont, and had to walk right back out. It IS beautiful, and I can't wait for a nice, warm afternoon to sit out on their patio for a relaxed lunch.

I"ve been in for lunch and dinner and had great food and service every time. The back table w/ booth and chair we loved especially being near the fireplace. I'm surprised at the non-stop nitpicking of every meal on every visit. It is a beautiful restaurant, I think we are lucky to have it in our neighborhood. If you don't like don't go so you don't have to drag every bite through the mud on the forum. :) I think if you want to watch tv while you eat go to the Steakhouse or stay home...I'm glad to have somewhere that has conversation and laughter in the background instead of tv noise.

Dinner - 4 Adults Tues 1/24 - Greeted quickly - Plenty of available seating. Drinks and food were good. Service was very slow....so slow that it detracted from the atmosphere, meal etc.
You would think by now, they would have this straightened out.

Between my wife and I, we have been to Clyde's now about a dozen times. Sometimes for lunch, sometimes for dinner and sometimes for a drink at one of the non-smoking bars. Overall the experience has been terrific!

At brunch one Sunday, (I wrote about this earlier in this thread) they brought my French toast quite blackened which was not appealing to me. I mentioned this and they immediately took it back and quickly brought a new one which was just fine. But on top of that, they took the price of the meal off the bill which I did not ask for nor expect. That was classy as far as I was concerned.

There have been a couple of ocassions where the service was a little slow but it seemed than those times, one waiter or waitress was taking care of the whole room. So the problem was one of being understaffed. I know that has been a challenge for them.

I know that Clyde's really didn't advertise the opening of the restaurant due to their still getting staffed up and getting their ducks in a row which takes time.

I think they have done a wonderful job and the place is beautiful. I will continue to frequent Clyde's along with Bonefish, San Vito's, and other restaurants in the area.

Coming from Bethesda and Old Town Alexandria, I was a little worried about having enough decent places to eat out here in Loudoun but have been happy so far.

Another ok meal at Clydes, server was great, great personality but she even complained that her money was suffering from the lack of kithen production. Food was slow and not very good. But hopefully they will figure things out this is the 3rd slow time we have been there.

Went to Clyde's yesterday evening. Sat in the back with the family - 2 adults, 2 kids. Service was great even though it took the server (what felt like 15 minutes) to walk my martini down the aisle. I watched every step as he slowly balanced his tray and made sure he didn't spill a drop.

The manager stopped by a couple of times to see how things were going, a great guy. Overall, food was great (ordered sandwiches instead of "dinner entrees") and service was excellent.

Really enjoy the experience there, liking it much more than Bonefish. Not sure if anyone else agrees.

I love Clyde's but I'd still go to Bonefish for a seafood dinner.

    Merlin and others--

Just got back from Clyde's for a business lunch and thought the food and service was good. I met with my business associates at Clyde's around 12 pm for our reservation. No problem with service and food.

Of course, at times, like any restaurant it can be mediocre for good service or food. Great place for a relaxing meal.

Well there goes the neighborhood. Without any fanfare and boistrous advertising (until now), this Clyde's is a huge success. As are many restaurants in the area. When we first moved here the only place to go out for a meal were the chains out at Dulles Town Center, and then you had to wait an hour for a table. Now we have an incredible array of places to eat....and even then most of the "local critics" on the forum want to find something to whine about- the service, the food, the atmosphere, blah, blah, blah. For Chrissakes, we don't have the best food in the Country, but at least we don't have to wait an hour to eat at the Red Lobster anymore.

The success of Clyde's is amazing! When the parking lot is full on a Wednesday night, you know it's a hit.

To those of you who live on Chickoan and Glebe View, just so you know, I take the long way around to get there. Don't even want imagine how the traffic has increased on those roads.

Love the food...I've had better service at the Ashburn McDonald's.

Been there twice so it wasn't a fluke.

Like the near DC much better.
