My friends and I had dinner at Anothai, the swanky new place in Southern Walk Plaza last night. The whole experience was phenomenon. Though they just open yesterday for the first time, the operations ran as if they've been open for a while. When craving Thai, we always have to drive to Thai Luang. But after the meal last night, we found our new favorites. The decor was so elegant and swanky. The food was great. We had dumpling (so fresh and yummy sauce), seafood Tom Yum (my mouth is watering just thinking about it), duck's basil (they call Karim's duck). The duck basil is different but good. The sunken bench which is like a booth but you have to step in is surprisingly comfortable. All in all, want to share my wonderful experience with you all.

I was there too with my husband. We drove by the shopping center and saw the open sign so we walked in. They surpassed our expectation in every way; the decor, the food, the service. The owner is very nice and friendly. Definitely 3 thumbs up!!!!

We drove by the new shopping area and saw that it was open. It looked pretty packed. We had just eaten, so we did not stop in but will definitely give it a try this week.

Excellent food and atmosphere.. Just ate there.. The owner even remembered our names too when we left. I will go as bold to state that this is the best Thai place I have come across in a while...

I wonder what this new restaurant will do to the crowds at Sala Thai and Orchid Thai. Sala Thai has an advantage being so close to Verizon/AOL for the lunch crowd and is convenient for many on the way into Ashburn if they want to pick something up. Bangkok Thai in Ryan Park and My Thai Place in Brambleton both open very soon. Then there's the one in the Village as well. Hard to believe there is that big of a demand for Thai food in Ashburn.

My name is Lalida Silpacharn. I am the owner of Anothai Restaurant. First of all, thank you to everyone who's posted and provided invaluable comments. I'd to personally invite all of you to try our new restaurant. I will donate 15% of the profit from sales on Wed (Mar. 7) and Thu (Mar. 8) to an organization (school, church, non-profit organization) of your choice. Please cast in your vote by 9pm today.

    Regards,
    Lalida.

How do we cast our vote? Mine would be for Winnie the Pooh Preschool - a non for profit preschool here in Ashburn.

My wife and I picked up dinner from there on Monday... it was really good - unlike Orchid Thai - it had lots of flavor and what tasted like high quality ingredients....... The owner was there when I picked up the food, and she was quite nice as well......

    WE WILL GO BACK.........

And i would vote for Winnie the Pooh as well

Congratulations to Winnie the Pooh!! We will donate 15% of our profit from Wed. and Thu. sales to the organization. We have kids meal (including chicken nuggets) and provide crayon and placemats to keep kids entertained during the meal. Our restaurant is located at 43170 Southern Walk Plaza (the same plaza as the new Harris Teeter in Broadland). We are open from 11:30 - 10:00 on Wed. and Thu. If you need more direction, please call the restaurant at 571-220-0053.
