We don't go out and pay for mediocre food! Glory Days' food was NOT mediocre - it was good. It was as good as we would make at home -- the veggies were probably even better because they did something fun like put butter on them, which we don't do at home. When we want and expect something better than what we make at home, we will probably go somewhere else.

We love to cook too, and we cook a lot. But sometimes it's a treat not to cook, and a treat not to clean up afterwards. Sometimes it's a treat to get out and about after work with loved ones and away from all the things around the house that must get done.

I totally understand...we serve a lot more vegetables at home than what we can get anywhere out, I've found restaurants are very stingy with vegetables, plus - eating out often is not good for the waistline either. I just like to go home and make dinner, spend time with the family and go for our walk. Eating out is too noisy...after working all day in a hectic place. But to each his own.

That's a good point. I've found that few places serve a good variety of vegetables. Logan's Roadhouse is the best for that around here that I've found. When we first moved to NoVa there was a restaurant chain called "The Black-eyed Pea" that we loved from when we lived in Texas. They closed all their east coast stores in 1998, unfortunately. What I liked about them was that, although most of their food is home-style dishes that one *could* make at home (but didn't have to) they had a LOT of veggies and you could get a veggie platter of just veggies. And I didn't have to clean up afterward.

for US- it's for atmosphere and to eat foods you normally wouldn't eat if you new how much fat was in them! plus, we don't think Glory Days is mediocre- they do a good job with their dishes.

Damon's has had that for years ... does make it easy to hear what's going on in the different games, etc.

After real estate class my son and I went here for a snack and had the shrimp po boy. It was very good as well as the service even the cokes were served in glass bottles and the free refills came from the tap.

What was nice is you can get something to eat out here late in the evening that is fairly decent.

I have to say their tvs and screens are fast becoming outdated technology no hi def and all 4.3 screens.

    Oh the HORROR!!!!

I've never been to (any) Clyde's or (any) Glory Days. Would those in the know care to compare and contrast for me, please? Thank you!

Don't worry Dalyn thinks the 32" TV I got her for her very own is wonderful. ha ha ha ha ha Little does she know it is very outdated technology way worse then anything in Glory Days and it cost almost nothing ha ha. So when you come to my Cinco Del Mayo happy hour you two will have a lot to talk about. ha ha ha ;) Second thought you might tell her about this forum and ruin all my fun. :(

I just tried ordering take-out from there. Let the phone ring for almost 5 minutes, no one answered. That's not good at all. I know it's Friday, and they're busy, but unless they're closed, you shouldn't let the phone go unanswered that long.

But, we love Glory Days, so I'll forgive them! :)

DH and I went there with some friends this weekend. Our server told us they are really understaffed and the servers they have are being pulled from other GD locations. She happened to come all the way from Frederick, MD! They even took out some of the table/chair combos they have in the middle row (between the booth sides) since they were understaffed. Although there was never a wait.

Our server also said she really enjoyed our neighborhood and we are great tippers :haha: everything she got was 20% compared to her usual in MD.

Overall, food was good, nothing exceptional, but what was expected. Fun and familiar! My husband got hooked on the arcade games, claiming he could win the grand prize

We will definitely be back, since it's within walking distance!

Did anyone notice the armed security guard on Friday night? Just wondering why GD thinks they need tight security.

Had lunch there today. Food was great. Had the pork chops. Smaller in size than the Steakhouse but very tasty and not dry. Service was excellent but that might have been cause we were our server's only customers. We will definitely go back. Much better place than the Sterling location.

The Thai place next door was awesome. Food tasted better than the Orchid Thai place in Broadlands shopping center. The atmosphere was great too. Next stop is the American Bread place once it's opened.

I was there Friday night and the security guard was picking up food.

I do not think he was working for GD specifically, he may be a guard for the whole complex.

I asked the host about him and he said he's there on the weekends. Didn't say why.

Have been twice now and the bar drinks are 0-for-2.

My wife ordered and Amaretto Sour and what was delivered was undrinkable, and it was totally clear (not the orangey-brown color it should have been). It tasted like a glass of Collins mix with some clorox mixed with it.

    This is twice now.

We also noticed that each table around us sent drinks back Friday not for not being mixed properly.

I was really looking forward to Glory Days opening, but at this point, my attitude is lukewarm.

My wife and I have been to Glory Days several times now, mostly with great results.

The wings which they are supposedly famous for, are not that good in my opinion and I have tried them several times.

The Vermonter sandwhich is among the best I've ever had anywhere. The salmon, according to my wife, is better than Bonefish or Clyde's.

And so far, the mixed drinks have been consistently way better than average. Our friends who have also been there several times seem to be equally as pleased.

For being so close and reasonably priced, we are amazed and pleased.

I had whiskey sour the other night, they make their own sour mix which I told them to stop doing.
