Casa Gonzalez in Leesburg is far better than Del Rio in my opinion.

On the Border in Reston

If you are willing to drive, El Agave in Warrenton has really good food too.

Nothing can be going back home to Arizona for some Macayo's though.

Hornerjo,
Where is Casa Gonzalez? I've never heard of it before, but am interested in finding out where it is because I absolutely LOVE Mexican.

Thanks!

Bladerunner - if you are giving Del Ray and TB a 10 and a 9 respectively then I truly think you have not tried "real" mexican food.

I know taste is arbitrary but these 2 mexican eateries come no where near to what true Mexican food tastes like.

suburban mama and others--

We have been to Casa Gonzalez in Leesburg. It is in front of of TW Perry Hardware and Lumber store on Catoctin Circle. Great "hole in the wall" Mexican food. Similar to what we have at Mexican restaurants in Gwinnett County, GA.

Haven't sat down in Del Ray yet but I am determined to try them after some outSTANDING chicken flautas at Broadlands Live Friday.

Chipotle's: Food - 8 Service - 10 (If they give me a tortilla with my Burrito Bol) Drinks - 10 (Water on the rocks is very tasty and they serve Barq's as well) Value - 8
Del Rey: Food - 10 (If it is the Enchilada Lover's Delight, N/A if anything else) Drinks - 10 (Water on the rocks very tasty and they have root beer if I feel like I want to throw my money away on a drink that has a price that night) Service - 8 Value - 10 (Can I go higher on this? cause with my 1% back on my credit card and 14% off with my Broadlands coupon card every time I go so it is the BEST price!!!

Those are the only two I go to they satisfy me so no need to experience the others.

Update: Actually, I was at Del Rey the other night for dinner, looked like a ghost town in there. It was my party and another group next to us, seemed very awkward to enjoy our dinner when all the servers & cooks were staring at us, being the only ones there. What a change since the last time I visited this place.

They have no one to blame but themselves for being empty. If the owners had paid attention to an nth of the complaints they received, it may have turned out differently. I wanted to love that place, but two bad experiences w/really crappy food and worse service, were enough. The owner was more interested in going outside for a cigarette than working to make the place better. Pitiful.

For those of you that don't know, Border Cafe is a mini-chain of restaurants from good ol' Boston, the home of Mexican Food. (And you thought that it was from Mexico!)

Actually, they are the home of the best tequila-laden margaritas this side of El Paso.

I am truly fond of American Style Mexican, and American-Style Chinese foods. I have had authentic Mexican while in Mexico, had Mexican Food in SoCal, NM, TX, and AZ, and I prefer the old Americanized versions! :naanaa:

Same goes for Chinese. They can keep their numbing spices. I like my General Tsau's with a sweet, sticky and spicy sauce. I know that it is not authentic, but it is good! :p

Mike I will bet you love californian rolls instead of real sushi too ha ha ha :D Of all the mexican places in this area the only one that I even know comes close to mexico (not authentic mexican food) is Rio Grande known as Uncle Julio's in Dallas. Not sure where the rest of these places came from.

Border Cafe is ok... but other than that, you can't find decent mexican food in Boston!!! It doesn't exist. Says she who moved to Boston from Arizona and missed all the good stuff she left behind.

Is there any good NEW Mexican food around here? (As in New Mexico? Not Tex mex.)

Agree. I cannot believe all of the restaurants around whose owners and/or employees stand right outside and smoke. To me, it says dirty, disgusting and disrespectful. I will not eat at those places.
