while i can certainly sympathize with the shortage of staff---i don't believe that makes it okay to have terrible service. i heard that very excuse when we went on a WEDNESDAY night---we sat out on the patio, where probably 8 tables were taken...which was more than were seated inside...and my server was bellyaching to me about how he was sorry he was slow coming around b/c he's the only one out there and other servers are standing in the kitchen. to me--that's a management problem. You want me to understand...comp my meal or make me feel like i should come back. b/c as of right now...i'm not. while my luke warm 10 spice chicken was edible, my wife's meal was cold and i even had to go get my own beer from the bar, which brought light to another area that's lacking at Glory Days. I'm with Lee...i'll head down to Anothai if i'm going to end up in the shopping center. hot food and good service....something GD needs to work on.

OK, we've been there three times now - probably won't be back anytime soon. In spite of the minimal number of diners, and large numbers of waitstaff just standing around - service was actually fairly poor. Food isn't all that great either. On our last visit I decided "Ok - pretend this is just a decent neighborhood burger joint - stick with the burgers" - burger was just ok (not bad, not great), but I must have got 8 french fries total (yeah - I probably shouldn't be eating more than 8 fries!!) - come on - I'm paying $8 for the burger, you think you could throw in a few more fries?? So.............we'll stick to Foster's Grill for the burger type stuff (Foster's has a fantastic chicken sandwich - and while it isn't table service - those folks are on the ball!!).

Glory Days, I'm afraid, is too true to its name - our memories of past visits to other Glory Days locations are much nicer than the current reality!

Interesting, I always felt that fosters burned their food (though their fries are amaaaaazing)...I feel like we are beating a dead horse, we all agree for the most part the food at GD's is ok or worse, and the service is horrrible. Plus noone brought this up -- no liquor happy hour prices. (except margarittas)

As a big fan (for years) of Glory Days in Springfield, and a few visits to Dranesville, I figured GD would be a great addition to Broadlands. I've often commented that we need more "family oriented" restaurants here that offer good food at a fair price. (Note: My daughter is grown and married now, but I can empathize with parents who want to take their kids to dinner.)

I went to Glory Days this weekend. It wasn't overly busy (empty tables, no waiting) and the server (Ryan) was attentive and prompt. However, it seems the kitchen could use some help.

First, our order (4 people) took much more than the average time to come out of the kitchen. Two people ordered nearly the identical meal - both with a side of "cheese fries." (A GD's specialty). In short, the portion sizes and presentation were completely different on the two plates, and we all commented that the food was fairly mediocre.

It was not up to what we have come to expect at this chain. We may give it another try in a few months - when the growing pains are over.

The two biggest disappointments, versus hype and expectations, for us have been Del Rey and Glory Days.

I still love the place. The kitchen can be slow, but I think the servers are all very nice, well-mannered kids. Have you tried talking to the manager, I believe her name is Amy. She's aware of problems, and is trying hard to get everything running smoothly.

We went on Sunday night. This was my first visit. I thought the service was fine and the food was good too. My husband had a mushroom swiss burger he said was really great, and my kids split a rack of ribs. I had one and they were delicious! I had a grilled panini which was also tasty. The kids liked the drinks that came with a shark and a lizard in them, I think it was Sprite with green food coloring. We will certainly be back.

We went for our second time last night, and we both really liked our food. Someone on here recommended the shrimp po' boy, which is definitely a good choice. Our server was a little spacey, but he was polite and he tried hard. Maybe I'm a softie, but I have a hard time getting mad at these young kids that are probably at their first jobs....

Tried it tonight for the first time - After reading a few of the posts here we did not expect much but were really pleased. Pretty crowded but service was very good and food was better than expected. (Philly cheesesteak-Yum!) Kids enjoyed the shark/lizard drinks and speaker box at the table. Will go back again.

My wife and I went back to Glory Days last Friday after a somewhat disappointing first trip a few weeks ago. Having lived in the area for a good chunk of our lives, we've loved the other Glory Days in the area, so we were really hoping that the first disappointment in Glory Days was a one time glitch and not a frequent problem. I'm happy to say that the service and food this time were several orders of magnitude improved. The food was of the quality we've gotten from other Glory Days and the server was extremely nice, polite, and competent. Glory Days is not gourmet food and may not be the cup of tea of others, so keep that in mind. However, when I want something of a guilty pleasure that I know will satisfy my craving for fat and fun, then I know Glory Days will get the job done. So lesson learned, try not to judge a new place on your first visit...I hope to keep that lesson in mind for myself in the future. Thanks!

My wife and I have not experienced bad service as of yet. The food has been consistent (for what it is) and we will keep going back.

I've been to Glory Days once and that was all it took, there won't be a next time for us unless they're giving away free beer.

We go to American Flatbread (highly recommended) and Anothai for a delicious meal with EXCELLENT service. There is something to be said for kind, attentive and considerate waiters and waitress. And it’s an added bonus with the owner personally introduces themselves during each and every meal.

I can’t say enough about American Flatbread and Anothai.

I've been to Glory Days a few times and have enjoyed the experience every time. I was seated quickly, my order was correct and the staff was extremely outgoing and pleasant. I have never had an issue there and would recommend it to anyone.

Woopity ~ I didn't go back and read all the posts, so if you have posted this I'm sorry, but how was the service not decent?

This is a bit off topic but if anyone wants to check this place out when the DCUnited Football(soccer) team is playing let me know. I am trying to feel the interest in having them do a viewing party for DCUnited.

slooooowwww usually. we sat outside twice, and you i might as well have yelled my order from my back yard through the woods. I even had to go inside and get my beer that i asked for twice that was never brought out. i know...god forbid i get off my lazy ***....but if the server says "can i get you another beer?" and i answer yes--i didn't think it would take more than that. He said he was sorry and that they were short staffed. when i went in for my beer, there were no less than 5 people standing at the entrace to the kitchen doing jack squat. Then apparently ordering a beer at the bar was an inconvenience to the bartender...b/c i had to practically wave her down---i know it was hard to miss the 6 foot tall guy in the sea of empty seats....but oh well. It seems the bad - to - mediocre service is always justified by excuses from the server. If there's a shortage of staff (but by the line of do-nothing-people i saw in the kitchen, i'd say it was a shortage of staff willing to do some work), then that's a management problem---but i'm not okay paying for cold food followed by excuses.

Come to think of it..the 1st time we ate there, it was a good experience. sat quickly...food was prompt, server was a little over-the-top with his fake-politeness, but i'll take that over the rest of the people i've had there. so we're 1 for 4....

I went there a few nights ago with some friends who arrived before me, the plan was to meet on the patio...I goto the patio and sit down...I make a call to my friends who were TOLD by the hostess "No outside seats available"...I was 5 minutes behind them and there were 4 tables open, 2 of them not bussed. The 2 tables not bussed remained that way for our two hour stay...With that said, I have not had problems at the bar, and I have never sat in their general dinning area (I have found in travel it's faster service at bars). outside I agree with most everyone, service is slow.

I finally ventured over to the food side of GD's and was pleasantly suprised, after reading the threads. Our server was friendly, attentive, and knowlagable about the food. She made sure we were doing ok many times during the course of the meal. The food was just what I would expect from a place like Glory Days.

They are getting much better, the manager even mentioned that she realizes this website is not Glory Days biggest fans.
