You have a point, but nobody would have to worry about being liable for anything if the parents would keep a better eye on their kids and not hurl them down a hill into on-coming traffic.

Van Metre will be at the corner of Waxpool Road and Truro Parish at 9:30 am on Saturday with their plans for the hill's destruction and the houses they will build on top of the newly flattened hill.

Thank God! We need more houses and less places for kids to play, have fun and get hurt. Plus all that open green grass has become such an eyesore. This is long overdue.

What sarcasm? ;) By the way, your Pats better not choke this weekend. I need to cover the 17-point spread or I owe Madcat a beer!

this is just another way for broadlands to suck all of the fun out of ashburn. theres already absolutely nothing to do here for kids over the age of 8 and now they go and take away one more thing thats fun.

I know it's been said before but...in this case there is no "Broadlands" ... the property is owned by Van Metre, not the association...

This has been going on for a couple of years. Some of us have been fighting to not have the hill compromised, Van Meter has proposed putting up houses there, as it is zoned for that. I don't know what the final decision was, but I do know they met on Saturday morning to discuss some landscaping, putting in berms, etc..trying to maintain a natural appearance. I agree with you and don't want the congestion of more houses. I live in that section. Cliff Keirce and Stevens Miller have been involved with that as well.

You've got your piece so of course it's too congested for anyone else.:rolleyes3: You won't even notice the congestion caused by the small number of houses that would fit on this property.

That was certainly sarcastic to say the least. I've been here for 8 years and have seen a lot of changes that I mostly support. In addition, there is also approval for single family or townhomes. We all have the right to our opinions regarding our community.

And may I add, that in all these overbuilt communites today fondly known as PUDS, there are never any things for the olde kids to do. back in the day, playing kick the can or ghost in the graveyard all the kids on the block would get involved...even up to HS age.

These old school games can be played now. There is a lot of open space at all the schools. Some older kids play in our neighborhood with running between the houses. Doesn't bother me one bit when they cross my yard.

When I was in school the schools would also open up the gym for us to play basketball volleyball or whatever
That is a large facility being under used around here. :)

I just don't see a need for the space. Does Van Meter Really need to raze a small hill to throw 5 houses on when they have SO much development elsewhere to plop 5 houses down on. It seems overly excessive to me. It's not like they can't make their money in newly propsed and razed developments that can be beautiful and planned. I personally wouldn't buy a house sitting on Truro Parish, I don't think people realize the excessive speed that is traveled on that road and the amount of traffic. I'm out on this topic, I'm putting my energy into the Redskins eeking one out.

    Lee,

I think that's the first time you've made a statement I agree with. Everything okay? ;)

So, what's the timeframe for them to start "removing" the hill? Will we get one more sledding season in first?

Yea, I hear you, I guess I don't have my greed cap on. As of my last update, there was no date, I'll ask my neighbor, who has been following it very closely.
    cheers
