    Hey Everyone,

As part of bigger 'goings on' I've been experimenting with a new style for the forums and I'd like to hear your feedback. This requires no work by you except to use the site and tell me what you think and if you have any problems.

    Here's how it works
    • Scroll down to the very bottom of the webpage - there is a dropdown menu in the lower left corner. Right now it will say Default Style. Click and change the selection to Experimental Style
    • The page will now redraw in the new style.
    • If you need to go back for any reason, simply use the same drop down and select Default Style again

Some things to remember when commenting/using the style

    • this is purely EXPERIMENTAL
    • the style is meant to try to follow another style that is yet to be published, so that is why the general color scheme is as it is
    • ignore any white outlines around icons - the icons aren't modified yet
    • ignore that the buttons are blue - the icons aren't modified yet
    • ignore the orange space in the middle of the graphic at the top of the page, its purely a placeholderphotos at the top are samples (the one of the right is even repeated a bit to fill the space) and aren't really necessarily representative of a final photo. Feel free to comment on the style/context though.

Please try to use the style for a few days. Comment in this thread on how it works for you. When commenting on something, the more descriptive you can be - the better. Please include the URL of the page you are viewing or commenting on and even better if you can attach a screenshot and cropped to the area you are discussing.

You can add comments in this thread.

Thanks and let me know how it works for you!

    Thanks!

No, colors are too "fallish" (if there is such a word). Maybe you could get with a designer or a few people and disscuss color varients that would work year around. Good start though.

The color style is intentional given the theme of Broadlands itself is Nature

Ok, but nature has seasons and this kinda is one season color theme. Perhaps it's just me.

    I like it.

Colors are very pleasing and have a better contrast making it easier to read info.

Nicely done, Steve. The picture of the families in the upper right corner give it personality and capture the spirit of Broadlands. Good work!

The more I play with it the more I find the dark green is kinda hard on the eyes. Like in the quote boxes and the lines between posts which contain the date, time and post number. Just my $.02.

    Style suits me fine.

One tweak reco - do something about the username/info box. As it contains so much 411, it makes the entire posting several lines deep even if the is only 1 line. One can get only 3-4 posts on a screen at a time requireing alot of scrolling/paging.

Yeah - it's teh cool! I would, however, gove folks the option between "new" & "classic" if possible.

The Broadlands logo scheme is pretty much green- so this is perfect!

The olive in the avatar area is the same used in the quote area. This is a very hard color to find the right combination for. I'd like the username to stand out a bit more, but have not found a combination that works for me yet.

Note that the same text color is used on both the olive and grey/orange backgrounds. This is part of what makes it hard.. it has to work on both a dark and light background.

Anyone who wants to open up their graphics program or even paint! and experiment with colors.. please do and send in any suggestions :)

The quote area is my biggest turn-off right now.. I may consider breaking the standard 'style' and have the quote area be its own unique color.

Don't freak out if you see the style change randomly during the day or night. The experimental style is subject to changes at any time :)
