No way Anitas can touch Del Ray in the broadlands! Del Ray's burritos are truly the best I've ever had. Seems as though their secret recipes were passed down by generations before them.

Nope, I am just a fan of good food and Del Ray is the best I tell you, don't forget 2 for Tuesday specials where you can order any entree at regular price and get the 2nd half off! How dare you accuse me for working at Del Ray!!! Shame of you:nono:

Well shame on me then as I am still skeptical. You seem to be the ONLY person who likes Del Rey.

we really enjoyed the food delray served at Broadlands Live, but eating IN the restaurant was a different story. the service was seriously lacking- slow, inefficient, confused- polite but not good in ANY other way. the meals weren't impressive- some aspects wer good, like the flavor of the meats, but the presentation was sloppy, there wasn't a balance between the ingredients, it just didn't give you much joy to eat there.

but those taquitos at Broadlands Live- FANTASTIC!!

I would rather have Old El Paso stuff at home. Del Ray is one of the most disappointing Mexican restaurants I have ever been to. I REALLY wanted a Mexican restaurant this close to home too.

Del Ray has good deals on Mon/Tue/Wed nights. All you can eat buffet for $7.99, kids 10 and under $2.99.
It may not be the best Mexican food around, but I like it, the owners are nice folks, and they support the community. That's three thumbs up for me!

Anyone try Los Toltecos in Sterling on RT 7 across from the Dulles Town Center? Service, Food, Atmosphere all REAL good. Margaritas are a little weak, but everything else is great! TRY THEM OUT.

We tried them too...wasn't impressed. We're spoiled...have been to Arizona several times. as I said - we're still looking for a top notch Mexican restaurant.

Hello. I've been using this forum to try out restaurants since I moved to Arbors. I was disappointed when I saw this thread and thought I would not find decent Mexican food in the area (especially after trying Del Rey - yuck). However, this weekend we visited Mariachi's in Landsdowne and it was one of Mexican meals I've ever had. Big fan of their fajita platter. Ceviche was a little overly sour, but the meat was excellent quality.

It's a little more pricey than I'm used to when I want Mexican food, but it was worth it.

Wouldn't Mexican food be tastier and lower in fat and calories, if you made it at home?

I had a bigtime hankerin' for some Casa Gonzalez last night, so we drove up to Leesburg. We got to their location and then: shock, horror, dismay!! CG's was closed. Windows boarded up. Awning over entry way ripped down. Outside dining deck shorn away from the side of the building.

Sign on the door said they closed up in April. No reason was given; however, I found an article from the Loudoun Times-Mirror about the revitalization of Leesburg's downtown area that sheds some light on the story...

    http://www.loudountimes.com/news/2008/apr/22/leesburg-council-candidates-debate-best-way-revita/

"Casa Gonzalez owner Monica Rodriguez, who agreed that eastern Loudoun draws away customers, recently closed her Mexican restaurant on Catoctin Circle due to poor sales and escalating rents. Her restaurant was in the town's Crescent District – an area targeted by town planners to become a walkable community and an extension of the historic downtown."

Their web site — which has a weird design (because never in my years of going there did I ever encounter a live guitarist who vogued for the camera or a dancing cartoon chile that played maracas) — still lives on...

    http://www.casagonzalesmexicanrestaurant.com/home.nxg

Their food was great. And I'm especially going to miss their seafood tostadas (which were only offered on Fri and Sat).

    Vaya Con Dios, Casa Gonzalez!!

Tried Austin Grill over the weekend, wasn't that good at all. Chips were greasy, salsa was as mild as you could possibly make. I had 2 beef tacos, wife had chicken fajitas and kiddos a hamburger and a steak taco.

We thought it was strange they didnt have a beef taco listed for the kids meals (which is what we wanted to get for him) but a steak taco instead. So we asked for a beef taco instead, and of course they got it wrong and steak came. Waiter took it back to get a beef taco. In the meantime I tried my beef taco and found out why they don't give it to kids. It was so spicy it roasted my mouth (and I can eat some spicy stuff). There is no way I'd give it to any kid. Anyway, the waiter brought back the steak taco with some stupid excuse which I don't remember, but we kept the steak anyhow. It was actually pretty good (not spicy).

Wife had chicken fajitas which they should have just renamed to 'Chicken flavored pepper fajitas'. The cook just went nuts with pepper, you could barely taste the chicken. It could have been fried spam and probably taste the same.

I rank the place about even with Del Rey, which is about a notch below Taco Bell. Still on the lookout for good mexican...

I tried a Mexican restaurant in Leesburg last week (Del Rio) and really liked the food. It's not a bad drive at all and on Rt. 7. Give it a shot and tell me what you think.
