Did I just dream this or was there supposed to be a Barnes and Noble bookstore at Brambleton?

Its kind of like our Dunkin Donuts.

Go to www.brambletonian.net for their forums. Tons of discussion about the Ghost of B&N.

I thought I remember it in the original plans as well, but there is no sign of it now. I guess it will remain a dream . .

And NOW THEY GET A JOHNNY ROCKETS???!!! We feel shafted that Lansdowne and brambleton got the nice centers. Yes we can visit them, but one thing I do notice is that the places are usually fairly busy. Guess Ashburn Farm and Broadlands aren't big enough or in the right area...

The word on the Brambleton message board is that a B&N was originally planned for their town center but not happening now.

The closest you'll get is the Books-A-Million that is planned for the Village at Leesburg center on Route 7 at River Creek Parkway.

Yep- Its out officially- Brambleton is getting a big gym though with an indoor and outdoor pool at the Town Center. This is official and construction is starting real soon. Its either going to be WSC or Sport & Health.

Dudette- but Broadlands has all the good eating establishments.
Callaloo, Anothai, AFB, Mezza, and now Bluez Brothers.
I only like My Thai & Blue Ridge at BTC.

That's a real bummer. I kept bragging to out-of-town family about how the town center would be even greater once B&N showed up. I wonder what all the little retailers think about B&N pulling out (they must have been counting on it for foot traffic).

I bet B&N pulled out because the developer delayed the construction of their building again. Remember that center is over a year behind schedule. And as the retail market has gotten worse why would they leave their name on a lease for a non-existant space that may or may not get built anytime soon. It doesn't mean we won't still see a bookstore... just that who knows when it will happen.

I do feel for the poor store owners that opened early at the Town Center under the impression that Barnes and Noble would be coming soon and the center would continue to be built up on a normal timeline. I drive by frequently going to HT there and rarely see anyone in the shops. Sure the movie theater is crowded and Blue Ridge Grill does well (as will the other two restaurants going), but I am sure nobody goes there to "shop" or even "browse" like they would at Reston Town Center or some of the other Town Centers in the area. A bookstore like Barnes and Noble would really be a great compliment to what is already there and allow people to make a trip to the movies more of an event that could include some shopping, a meal and a movie.

There is a "proposed" Books-a-Million in the Arcola center off of 606 and 50 so don't think they would also come to Brambleton. Borders really is the only other large bookstore chain that could possibly go there, but I doubt they would if B&N isn't. I hope something can be worked out, but other than a sporting goods store or Best Buy type (both going in at Arcola/Dulles Landing) not sure what else could go there. A Trader Joe's would be nice, but I know that wouldn't be allowed to compete with HT (although they do even self-competition with so many HTs around).

I've seen people browsing/shopping at the Go Bananas toy store, even on weekdays. I haven't been to the other stores (aside from Caribou) to know about those. But like you said, the Brambleton Town Center is nothing like Reston Town Center. If there were some office buildings nearby to bring some weekday daytime traffic, it might be different.
