I was wondering if anyone in the townhouses section of Broadlands has changed out any of their full bathroom light fixtures. We have a double sink in the master bath with the stand 8 bulb light fixture on the wall.... what we are wondering is if behind that fixture there is one or two places to connect the wiring... if it is one, is it right in the middle?

    Thanks!

    by the way......

I know we could take it down and look ourselves, but if someone else has already encountered what is waiting for us behind there, it seems easier then taking it down, finding out whats back there, putting it back up (so we have light) while we research what we want to replace it with, etc, etc!

Should be easy to check. Just take out all the bulbs. Then pull out the collar on each bulb socket. These hold the faceplate on. Take off the faceplate and you should see the wiring.
It won't require taking it all off or undoing the wiring.

more than likely you'll have a single hole in the wall with wires coming out...if you are going to install fixtures that are not "strips" you'll need to install boxes, depending on where the hole is and how you want to center you new lights you can pretty much count on some dry wall work along with the electrical work

I have. It's been a while but I remember there's no box behind the light fixture, just a hole. If it's like the cheap light fixture with the 100 light bulbs around it, it's held up by drywall screws since it's lightweight.

I would drill holes and use spring toggle screw since this will give you strength to hold up the new light fixture. Not a hard job and will make the bathroom look much better.

We were able to change it out but like you said, there was no box... we did have to add that, but it was simple for the most part! We went to home depot and the worker knew exactly what we were talking about and said that is the case with most homes in the area "Welcome to the world of your house being built by the lowest bidder" was his exact comment. Oh Well! It all worked out!
