At first it seemed as though the car was having alarm troubles as it was moving but the car horn was going off and its lights were flashing. But then it came back several times.

It even turned perpendicular across Vestals and pointed its headlights at a neighbor's house and started flashing its high beams and then sped off.

Was your son out between 1:00am and 1:30am Sunday with a dark grey Acura TL?

Totally unrelated to the Acura's antics - but I have to describe what happened Thurs night on Belmont Ridge. Going southbound, I had just come around the corner past Luck Stone and was just before Chesterton, when a dark SAAB (pretty sure) kicked into gear and passed me using the left turn lane and the yellow striped taper area.

I didn't even realize he was behind me, and I was doing at least 40, if not 45. He also ran the red at Ashburn Farm Pkwy and turned left into Ashburn Farm. Anyway - people around here are in too much of a hurry for their own good.

    Sorry for being off-topic....

Not sure what was going on but it scared us enough to call 911. This didn't seem like usual teenage antics. It went on for quite some time too. The odd part was they seemed to be able to turn off the alarm. Then they would start up again when they came down Vestals Gap. One time the came down just blaring their horn.

Same thing happened to me last night (Sat) 10 PM but the dark blue car passed me on the left at the curve just after the quarry. At the curve! STUPID!

If at all possible, take down location, date/time, car description and license plate information and call the Loudoun County non-Emergency hotline at 703-777-1021. From past experience of other Broadlands residents, they usually look into it pretty quickly and/or step up patrols in the area to find the culprit(s).

I live off of Village and remember hearing a car alarm around that time frame going on and off. I was to lazy (or tired) to get up and actually see where it was coming from.

That is one of the many things I hate about those car alarms. All they seem to do is annoy people but few people actually investigate the annoying noise.

I did contact LCPD and they went up & down the street a couple of times. I was unable to get a clear view of the plate - it was my intention to get it and next time I will be better prepared to do so.

Around 1:30am the Acura was coming back down Vestals from Glebe View and turned right on to Chickacoan. The cruiser was going straight on Vestals toward Glebe View. It did not appear the Officer noticed the vehicle.

I followed up with LCPD around 2:30am but the dispatcher had no new info. I left a message with the Deputy who responded to my call and I am waiting to hear back.

Volvo_nut, thanks for following up with LCPD about this and for the information. The more we all get involved, the better our community will become.

I spoke with LCPD today. There were two officers looking in the neighborhood and were unable to find any vehicles matching the information they were given by dispatch.

I really like the energy of the officer I spoke with and his commitment to helping us.

Be vigilant and we will get a tag number or other identifiable information that will lead to all of us feeling a little more comfortable at night.

I've been amazed at the number of stop-sign runners as of late. One guy who looked hopelessly lost running the sign at Moorefield and Old Ryan and then another in a black SUV who very deliberately ran (at a very high speed) the stop-sign at Ridgeway and Clairborne. Both were around 9 p.m.

Ah - that infamous black SUV that runs through the Claiborne and Ridgeway intersection at extremely high speeds. I hope one day someone can get a tag number on that person. From notes on various threads on this forum, a number of us have seen that car do the same thing.

It will probably take some kid getting hit before these drivers start giving a crap about their driving. :(

I followed one to its home one day, but then the next day in the forums someone mentioned a completely different make/model of the black SUV they saw blowing stop signs.

I think it's a conspiracy. Black SUV owners are exempt from stopping at stop signs.

    * Mini Van driver are by far the worst in broadlands. Running stop signs, speeding & cutting people off. Soccer parents must always be in a rush to get somewhere. Someone should start taking their plate numbers down and give the LCPD a call. hmm :screwy:

Today it was a white BMW sedan - not running stop signs but just as dangerous. I was stopped on Glebe View in the right side of the lane with my left hand turn signal on to turn into a driveway. The reason I was stopped is because there was a jogger in the street right in front of the driveway. The sidewalk was clear but joggers tend to like to run in the road which is a bit narrower than normal right now because of the piles of snow. Coming down the street on the left hand side was a large black pickup which was about in the middle of the road because of the jogger. The white BMW came up behind me, didn't even slow down and passed on the left - straight up the middle of the road. The truck had to come to a stop.

This ridiculously bad driving behavior has to do the same.

Don't you realize-he's more important than you! And his time is more valuable, too.

I think this is less about bad driving and more about the whole person. Arrogant, self important people...
