There is now a "merge" lane for anyone traveling Waxpool/Route 28 SOUTH. No more waiting at the light. Definately saved time going to work today.

I agree! What a pleasant surprise! We still have the problem of only one lane for traffic both crossing Route 28 and</u> heading North on Route 28. Hopefully, we will see a temporary remedy for this as well.

its great, all we need is the other part for comming home. then we will have it made. much nicer since I now only use the greenway for extreme, hardcore, lifethreating emergencies.

Exactly, boycott the Greenway, TRIP will get the message. In either event, grassroots efforts are always nice.

When the waxpool and ox are done, 28 is going to be a smooth ride!

Waxpool will be made into three lanes in each direction until ashburn icehouse/smith's switch intersection. The three lanes will help but you will still have the bottleneck at Pacific Blvd as well as Broderrick Dr. There will be less traffic coming from pacific blvd (north of waxpool) when the interchange is finished because they will close the intersection by carmax and rt 28. And if the future doesn't improve for AOL, there will be less traffic from pacific (south of waxpool)...

As for Waxpool, it would then go from 3 lanes, 2 lanes, to 1 lane, back to 2 lanes, down to 1 lane and then to a dirt road. I haven't been able to determine if that "genius" planning is due to the lack of insight by the county or the fact that VDOT couldn't plan/design their way out of a paper bag...

I haven't taken waxpool/28 in a while but based on these posts, I'll roll the dice this week. I hate the freakin greenway and maybe I can enjoy one month of commuting without a toll - before school starts and traffic takes an even sharper turn for the worse.

For those of you boycotting the greenway, maybe the tolls will be more reasonable when the state takes the road over - in just 32 short years...

I meant the 28 interchanges: Waxpool, Ox, Westfields. Is Sterling going to be done too? It needs to be.

of course the Innovation drive intersection has the "with a ballpark" and the "without a ballpark" designs. Although I don't think wither is in the works for a few years.

At least there maybe something there other than the CIT. I hate getting stopped there for one or two cars....

Actualy there are a lot of new townhouses and aprtments in there now, probably 1000+ households. LOTS more cars than CIT generates.

As nice as it will be to have the Waxpool interchange completed in about a year there will still be very bad bottlenecks along Waxpool leading into Ashburn. That will only get worse as thousands of additional homes are built in the area and people try to avoid the increased tolls. I go to and from Herndon most evenings during the week and work downtown so am making up to 10 round trips a week on the toll road which is a killer. I try to go Waxpool to 28 to 606, but that takes so much longer.
