Call Vivienne with TLC Dog Groomers. She works out of her basement in Ashburn Farm. We've taken our three dogs plus a golden to her for 5+ years now. Tell her Chance and Denver sent you.

I second Bark & Bubbles! We love the self wash option, but have seen many dogs leave the place, groomed by the staff, looking great!

I'm torn about whether to post this or not, but I figure it might save a dog from a bad experience. I took our Shih-Tzu mix to Vivienne last weekend based on the great reviews I read on these boards. When we picked him up he was in good spirits, but we noticed right away that his haircut was not so great. We didn't complain because we know he's a pain to groom and so what if he doesn't have eyebrows and his paws are all ruffly--at least he's clean and smells good, right? Immediately after coming home he experienced some stomach issues and went to the bathroom in the house, which is totally unlike him. I thought he just had nerves and couldn't hold it. He continued to go in the house for 3 days!! Then I was scratching under his chin and I found two huge scabs. This I could understand too. He is rascally and he got cut with the clippers on another occasion while getting groomed. The thing that really bothers me is that she did not tell us that he had been hurt. I suspect he was a little traumatized from his visit there and that's why he was going to the bathroom in the house, but I don't know for sure. All I know is that I took my dog to see Vivienne and he came home with a bad haircut, a scabby neck, and a weird attitude. I'm really not trying to trash Vivienne, because it sounds like she has a lot of clients that love her and she seemed very nice, but I thought I would share OUR experience.

Can't say anything regarding your experience, but we've been there every 6 weeks for 5+ years without any problems. I've got a skittish shepherd/retriever mix and a hyper poodle (and on occasion another wacky poodle).

My Jack Russell had a Woof n Spa day with Woofies- They picked him up and took him in their pet taxi to Barks n Bubbles, and he smelled and looked fantastic when they finished. They used an oatmeal bath on him, and he was so well brushed that he is STILL barely shedding any hair- and it's been over a week! His nails were neatly trimmed, and he was as happy and relaxed as a Jack Russell can BE.

he doesn't need much grooming but now and then I will let Woofies pamper him.

check their site for details... www.woofies.com

Awesome, we'll have to give Woofies a try once his eyebrows grow back!

With my last miniature schnauzer, I tried lots of places for him to be groomed after his breeder moved to Ohio. Schnauzers have very specific grooming requirements and I'll admit that I'm very picky about the way my dog looks (modified puppy cut). I tried Vivienne and really liked her but the cut never looked right. Perhaps it was just that she didn't have a lot of experience with this particular breed. We also tried Dog-A-Do in Herndon where the owner has been involved with schnauzers for years. Whenever Kat, did his grooming, he looked marvelous but whenever an assistant did him, the cut was uneven and ragged, requiring me to make a return trip. Even my veterinarian commented about how bad the dog looked. I have heard issues about Canine Carousel also (dogs coming home with diarrhea).

I'll be honest - I haven't found anyone local for this breed. I take my current dog to Arlington for grooming by someone who shows miniature schnauzers. The plan is for me to learn how to groom him myself.

I think any of the local places are probably fine for most dogs. For us, if I spent the money on a particular breed, I'd like him to look like what he is :)
