Yet you have a picture of your home and vehicle as your profile picture. Unless it's someone else's stuff and just used as a decoy. Clever. And you have your full name and middle initial as your handle. Unless that too is just to throw them off your trail. Again, really sneaky.

My neighbors and I always let each other know when we are going out of town. We look after each other's homes and pick up the stray papers and flyers. We also water outside plants etc. It is really very simple and makes our neighborhood a good place to live (and safer).

We do the same thing for our neighbors when they are out of town...one of the many reasons I really enjoy living in this wonderful community - great neighbors! And, if crime is something you are deeply concerned about, its a great opportunity to discuss it with the men and women in charge of making such an impact!

For those candidates out there knocking on doors, keep up the momentum! I know there are a lot of residents that really enjoy meeting you face to face and shaking your hands, discussing issues facing them personally and even jumping in to help volunteer with your campaigns!

*Agreed about not knocking on doors after bedtime hours though*

I think cautious is always a good approach. We do have meetings occasionally with the sheriff which are very informative. And as you undoubtedly know, we have several sheriffs that live in Broadlands.

However, it should be noted that we live in an area that is way below the national average for crime. Even looking at Leesburg (which seems to have a lot of assaults) they are less than 1/2 the national. DC and even Arlington crime reports have much more to be worried about.

This area has advantages in that it is well off, there are some people at home during the day (although we will likely never have very many retirees peeking out from behind lace curtains - may change someday as extended families are starting to live together again more), the properties are well maintained, we have a great HOA and people have the money to spend security systems and cameras if they are inclined. In our case we have been blessed with great neighbors, which seems to be a common theme talking to others.

The sheriffs in this area rock, with response times of under 5 minutes being the norm and they truly take an interest in what is going on.:2thumbs:

What gets categorized as home invasions always makes me wonder if there is more to the story. 21 yr old answering the door at 4 in the morning? Or that one in Sterling where there were 7 people home at the time?
