What is up with the Broadlands sign near Harris Teeter - the fountains have been off for weeks?

There is an issues with the water in the area. Van Metre is working on it but I thought they expected to have it fixed a while ago. If not fixed will ask again at next BOD meeting.

It's running today, I saw it twice, I even saw some "insert adjective" letting his 3 dogs swim and play in the falls area.

The sign is poorly lit at night. It looks spooky.

I agree that the sign can use more lights.

Speaking of signs, is there a reason the Broadlands sign on the southeast corner of Truro Parish and Belmont Ridge is not lit while the one on the northeast corner is? Are there any plans to light that sign so southbound traffic on Belmont Ridge can see it at night? I know the sign was installed prior to the new homes being built (on the southwest section) but, when those homes went up, I thought electrical would then be more readily available to allow for lights.

Are there any future plans to have a water/fountain type entrance, or a digital sign to Broadlands at the corner of Broadlands Boulevard and Claiborne Parkway?

    No.

The sign at the south was put in by Van Metre to help them sell the south side of the neighborhood. The north side was already all built out when VM took over the community from terrabrooke.

No need = no purpose for Van Metre to spend that money. And I doubt the residents are interested in blowing that kind of money..

And as a reminder, the big Broadlands sign with the fountain is actually maintained by the Commercial Broadlands HOA (Van Metre); they incur all the costs and it has no impact on the Broadlands HOA, our dues, etc. Additionally, these signs, landscapes, etc, need to meet strict county and VDOT regulations and are difficult to 'add' in a section that has already been built out. Usually, these amenities are part of a master plan approved before construction usually begins.

As a reminder, if Van Meter feels like they are such a critical part of the community that they can subvert HOA voting to put their puppets on the board than they can also feel part enough to fix their property. Please stop making excuses for them at this point even if it does sound like well grounded facts. It's clear that they can do whatever the hell they want regardless of regulations.

There has been no mention that the new board members have a connection to Van Metre, so it is unfair to characterize any as a puppet. From the posts, the Van Metre vote had less to do with who they did vote for.
