MWAA is holding a 30 day Public Input (start 8/17/2012:end 9/15/12) on the proposed Dulles Toll Road Rate Increase(s).

MWAA plans on combining tolls at the Main Toll Plaza (in Tysons) and ramp tolls. Proposed & Projected rates are as follows:

    Year 2013 Rate Increase $2.75
    Year 2014 Rate Increase $3.50
    Year 2015 Rate Increase $4.50

I believe this is a one way toll. For Broadlands Commuters, who use the Dulles Greenway & Dulles Toll Road round trip you could see a daily toll expense exceeding $20 per day (= DGW $5.25 x 2 DTR $4.50 x2).

MWAA has authorized an "online public input", see web link below:
    http://www.mwaa.com/tollroad/1147.htm

For those citizens who plan on attending MWAA's Public Hearings in an Open House style from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., as follows:

    Thursday, September 6, 2012
Stone Bridge High School - Cafeteria
    43100 Hay Road
    Ashburn, VA 20147
    Wednesday, September 12, 2012
South Lakes High School – Cafeteria
    11400 South Lakes Drive
    Reston, VA 20191
    Thursday, September 13, 2012
    Spring Hill Elementary School
    8201 Lewinsville Road
    McLean, VA 22102

Spread the word, especially on social media.

Erika - thanks for posting - Im guessing most folks dont even know this is available. Although I doubt that any comment about not raising the tolls will be taking seriously.

BTW I just heard that Phase II will not be completed until 2018 on the radio the other day - so I guess thats 5 years of toll increases before Metro even makes it to LoCo.

I'll be working so will miss the Stone Bridge meeting. Can someone ask a question for me?
"Why doesn't MWAA use some of its $100,000,000 profit (yes folks, that's ONE HUNDRED MILLION dollar profit) to keep the tolls reasonable? Secondly, how many hundreds of millions of profit are they projecting with these toll rates?"

    That should make them squirm!

Seems like the Public hearing for this is kind of a moot point and just lip service. The rates will go up, public outrage or not.... just ridiculous that tolls can be used as a money machine on one road and not all equally any more...

Click Here to Sign the No Toll Increase Petition
    http://notollincrease.blogspot.com/p/sign-petition.html
By signing this petition I am saying NO to skyrocketing tolls on the Dulles Toll Road. I want Virginia to take control by putting the Toll Road users first instead of making them the cash cow for other projects. Stop strangling our roads and the region's economy with tolls and traffic congestion.
    I say NO TOLL INCREASE.

    Article from today's paper:
    http://www.washingtonpost.com/local...8c3f46-f76b-11e1-8398-0327ab83ab91_story.html

The Board that has no accountability.... Hires former Board member for $180K year - day after she resigns due to health reasons... Oh and she get health insurance too. Now they are "doing the right thing" by terminating her contract. But she still gets one years pay and keeps her health benefits.

Really happy they are in charge of what I will have to pay to get back and forth to work.
