You got everyone's attention with your snarky remark, okay? So that's enough.

Sure, folks can use 2 bags. Then, when we're going over the budget in a few years and need to 'cut' something, someone will say "Why are we spending all this money on poop bags! Let's cut some of that." Then folks will complain that the poop bag dispensers are never filled, etc, etc.

Do what you want, but keep in mind that those bags are paid for by YOUR monthly HOA dues. If you're going to use 2-3 bags at a time because they feel thin, then ultimately, you and everyone else will be paying for those extra bags. And then one day, if the abuse grows, you might have to buy your own bags because residents won't want to pay a fortune on plastic bags to pickup poop. Or worse yet, the dispenser will empty much more quickly and folks will start to not pickup their dog's mess, people will complain that there's poo all over the common areas, etc.

Seriously folks, they're poop bags. Just grab one bag, put your hand in it, pickup the poo and throw the whole thing in the trash. If you don't like the 'sensation' then use your own bag or something. The bag won't break and won't tear in your hand. Get past the 'mental' aspect that you're picking up poo, and enjoy your walk, enjoy your dog, enjoy the pretty trees, etc. And remember, each one of those bags costs everyone money, so try not to abuse them.

BRING A PAPER TOWEL and use it over the bag if you can't stand that warm, soft, steamy sensation...

I never know if or when I'm going to need a bag, so I make sure I carry some with me in a container that I clip to my dog's leash. If the quality of the bags provided by the association is bothering you, this may be something to consider. It's part of the cost of dog ownership, and it's not a big one at that.

I think it's great that bags are provided. No complaints here. I just wish more people would use them! What gets me the most is when there's poop right by the bag dispenser! Very frustrating.

Those new doggie bags are just fine.....I'm happy they're provided for us! We have a large dog and I have no issues with the new bags. Yes, they're thinner, but work just fine and I haven't had one break or split yet. I'm all for saving $$$.

You can also use 2 bags to pick it up, but just tie and throw away the inner bag. Use the outer bag the next time. Problem solved.

I have struggled with this one. The thicker version is much more comfortable or more secure. However, there is hardly a time when we don't need to save money. And this is our money. IF I thought this thinner bag would be a factor in usage, I would definitely opt for the thicker one. However, I do not believe that this will have any impact on the amount of solid waste that is picked up. Anyone who likes the older bags that much can buy them for their use.

Yes, we too noticed that change in the bags. The better bags are called Mutt Mitt and they aren't cheap. However, we prefer them and do buy our own for picking up land mines in the yard. We recently picked up 4 boxes @ $19.99 per box 200 ct on Amazon about a week ago, but just noticed the price just spiked to $29.99 per box. Here is the link to it on amazon but maybe there is a better deal elsewhere:

I noticed advertising for Stream Valley Vet. Hospital appearing on bags. The bags are at least similar to old bags. I think this is a great idea on the assumption that the advertiser is paying something for this. I assume that Ms. G should be commended. Is that correct?

Actually credit goes to the HOA staff who are looking at way to save the HOA some money. THey worked with Stream Valley in this case to have them pay for the mitts
