tried to take the kids to the pool on lunch and they were closed. I didn't hear any thunder recently... any ideas? Maybe a freakout about the weather or something?

They used to tweet pool closures, not sure if they still do.

Who is in charge of the pools this year? Or the representative?

Wow! The pool situation is very confusing this year, is it not?

We have confusion over children in the deep end and whether or not a test is needed.
And then there is confusion about the hours and if the pool is open or closed.

My husband went to the community pool a few times at 5:30am (Tues, Wed, Thurs) for the lap swim, and it wasn't open. We tried calling the pool to check on the hours, and no answer. We tried the HOA office in the nature center and no answer.

If anyone in charge is out there reading this board, could we have some clarification on the rules and open hours please?

Just so it is clear, did your try calling the pool and the HOA about hours at 5:30 in the morning? Seems confusing the way you wrote that.

The HOA office has normal business hours during the week and should be there....

Sorry to be confusing on a thread about confusion

I'm not sure the exact times my husband called. I would have to get his phone to ascertain the time. He ended up going to Claude Moore pool to swim that morning (and paid the entrance fee  ), so he probably called the Community pool mid morning or afternoon to see if the posted hours are correct or have been changed.

He certainly didn't call the HOA office at 5:30am. We wouldn't imagine anyone would be there then. Maybe the person was away from the desk when we called?

We thought going to the pool and seeing it was closed was an isolated incident, but since it seems to have happened to others, it is a topic worth dicussing.

The pools were closed in the morning on Thursday due to the threat of storms. They opened up in the early afternoon, around 1:30pm.
The Community Center Pool did open last week for the adult lap swim. Unfortunately there was some confusion with the guard, who thought the pool opened at 6am rather than 5:30am, but that has been corrected for this week. I apologize for the inconvenience.
The HOA does not have a twitter or facebook account, but I will determine another way to publicize pool closings to the community going forward, either posting on the forums or on the home page of the website. Thank you.

Is there any reason why there is no lap lane again this year at the Southern Walk pool? It seems be missing at the start of each pool year.

Sarah - The HOA used @bhoapools on Twitter for a few years and stopped in 2010. It was extremely helpful with getting word out on pool closings and it also fed to the website in addition to twitter.

Twohokies, the Tech Committee is currently working on the code to interface this into the new website, as well as enable the pool managers to securely post updates that will be displayed on both the website and the Twitter feed.
