Anyone have any details on this incident from the latest police report?

Destruction of Property/Hate Crime: Deputies responded to the area for graffiti in the area of a pedestrian tunnel that was possibly hate based. A canvass of the area was conducted and several young adults were observed in a second pedestrian tunnel in the area of Waxpool Road. The subjects fled and two of the subjects were detained at the scene. A total of five subjects were identified through the course of the investigation. The case remains under investigation and is pending review by the Office of Commonwealth’s Attorney. There is no indication at this time the case is related to a series of hate-based graffiti in the Brambleton area this past summer."

Disappointing to see this in our community.

I was in that tunnel by the tennis courts yesterday and the graffiti that I noticed said Welcome to Da Hood. Maybe I missed the hateful one, or maybe it's been cleaned up.

According to HOA staff who looked over the area, they indicated that none of the vandalism they viewed was 'hateful' in nature. The Board has not reviewed any images of the graffiti at this time.

I think some of the time they like to classify this as "hate based" or "gang related"- gets the county more federal funds for task forces... Just speculating.

The "Welcome to da hood" graffiti that was mentioned in a previous post also had what looked like a kkk hood painted next to it. I wouldn't be surprised if that was covered up quickly.
