Optician recommendations?

Hi,

I'm trying to find an optician (not an eye doctor) who is knowledgeable about all the new types of lenses for people who need multi-focal glasses and can help me decide which would be best for me. I have a prescription and I'm looking for a progressive lens that has good peripheral vision. The types of lenses that have become available over the last few years seem like they can be better but the selection is bewildering.

Does anyone know of any opticians that can help or have experience with different progressive lenses?

Did you find a good optician? I wear bi-focals and the last time I got a pair, it just didn't work for me. If you found a good optician, can you share his/her info? Thanks.
