Hi - I'm trying to find some art classes for my 10-year-old. Looking for hands on, or vocational technique or some sort of skill. Does anyone know of anything in the area. Variety is the spice. Thanks.

Wow, have I got a place for you. Take a look at this place.. http://www.monroestreetstudio.com/

One of my Dearest family friends just opened an art and technology studio in Herndon. It is easy to get to off 606 and in the Old town part. And they have an Open House this weekend too!

For Arts, they teach almost everything. The owner is a true artist and does clay (they have a kiln), stained glass and all kinds of other media. The age ranges are flexible depending upon interest and both my 10 and 6 year old go there.

For the technology side, they are the only place that I know of around here that is teaching 3D printing and design. The are an authorized Maker Bot reseller too. My son takes these classes and is building a squad of WWII era tanks.

And for even more variety, they also offer Russian language classes and culture (the good part). The teacher is originally from Lithuania and some of the kids come from Russian speaking backgrounds. Feel free to ask questions.
