I wanted to get a concrete patio under the deck as it is becoming into a mini marshland when it rains.

    1. Is HOA permission required ? - I guess it is.
    2. Any contractor recommendations?

We did a paver stone type patio under our deck... I really love the way it turned out. As long as you use the polymeric sand (like concrete) with the paver stones, you get a very solid finished product. I think in the long run, for maintenance, curb appeal and value it is the best choice. And the stone choices give you great color pattern and style choices. If you go with something like stamped concrete, you can also get cool patters and colors but it just did not look as good in my opinion...

We used Holloway... based out of Aldie VA. And they are having an Open House this weekend at their Design Center....where you can see all these products installed.
