I stopped by there to have a beer while I was waiting on Broadlands Brick oven pizza to be ready. It was Monday night with the Football game getting ready to come on and I was the only person in the place. The bartenders were the worst I have seen, and the service was terrible. Can anyone who has lived here longer shed some light on this place? I feel like it should be more crowded than it is.

Mostly a weekend place for the younger crowd.

Can be busy some week nights but mostly slow.

I've watched sunday games there in the past with maybe 2 dozen or so people there with no issues. Sunday was pretty consistent when I would run over.

Have stopped by there from time to time over the last 10 yrs. Always interesting in some way or another, decent food, and service is on and off depending on the bartender. For me, it's kind of "It is what it is" game time decision. Some days I'm in the mood for hanging out there and sometimes it's Clyde's. Great place to catch sports though, the place gets crazy and crowded during whatever playoffs.

Thanks for the insight; looks like I just caught them on an off night. I will take a buddy next time on a game day.

Many places will also be slower during the week in the holiday season.

I'm kind of surprised at the lack of insight from any users of this otherwise informative forum. As someone who started hanging out there in the mid 2000s, back when it occupied half of the space, all I can say is this: Owners who don't learn from the mistakes of previous owners aren't very smart. The main problem with this place is the revolving door of bartenders. Horrible bartenders can thrive, outstanding bartenders can't last and there is usually one reason: often clueless, always meddling owners both past and present. Entire bar staffs have walked out, entire kitchen staffs have walked out, entire inventories of TVs have been stolen (inside job?), cars have been stolen, brawls have erupted, numerous noise violations have pissed off the neighbors and the Sheriff, and criminal activity has gone down like you'd see in an episode of The Wire. You name it, it has happened in the backyard of Broadlands. Like the first post, when you drop by for old times sake -- like I did this past year -- and there is a terrible bartender and three people in the bar, you realize that the name of the joint may have changed, but its still the same old place. Granted, some people like that kind of thing (see Spanky's Shenanigans) but the list of people in Ashburn who stopped going there has to be immense.

Yea, I have mixed experience in this place (but limited too) and I think it was the clientele, staff, and strange mix of the atmosphere etc. I liked the concept with the new place but it just did not work as an experience and lack of good time etc. Just did not get a good vibe ever....

Yup, we've all had mixed reviews with this place....however....they are trying something new.

Tonight and every first Wednesday they will be having a tap takeover from a local brewery. Tonight is Old Bust Head from Warrenton, VA. I'm gonna go give it a shot. If it stinks I'll go home but I want to support a local place trying to support local breweries.

We went there 3 or 4 years ago, it was pretty bad. Went there last weekend, and the food and service had improved considerably. Better than the American Steakhouse, or Greene Turtle.

Do you know if there is new ownership or new management? Does the place look the same? I would like to give them another chance... if there is a good alternative to other place.

I heard there was a LARGE personnel turnover. Rumint (heard 2nd hand) was that some of the previous staff was dabbling in selling of illegal substances.

I did think it was strange that a patron asked if I was a cop when I sat at the bar for drink.

mmm.. I go there at least 1 once a month i have been there at least 6 times and i didn't see anything wrong. The staff is very friendly beer is good.. food is ok. They just came up with a new menu and the few things i tried have been a bit better than previously. I've seen the owner there at least 3 times engaging with the staff and customers. The staff are friendly and very attentive.

i thought it was kinda lame when i went there last week. my buddies and i ordered a pitcher of fat tire beer. apparently, they don't have pitcher pricing. they charged us for 5 x $6.50 glasses. so a pitcher was $32.50. i don't order pitchers often, but that seemed a bit steep. was it?

yea, that's assuming that the pitcher holds the same amount of beer... but hard to believe that makes any sense. Getting a pitcher seems like a stupid idea then... especially if you have 2-3 guys... the beer gets warmer while you drink the first one....
