Just wanted to remind parents to remind your kids to lock up their bikes this summer. My son went to the pool today and didn't lock up his bike - it was stolen. Wasn't there for more than an hour or so.

He and his friend then hit the usual hot spots looking for his bike and found it parked outside Dunkin' Donuts. As my son approached his bike a teen came out of the store. Long story short, the thief, a local HS student, admitted he stole his bike and walked away.

My son said that a lot of his friends park their bikes at the pool and elsewhere but don't use locks. Reinforce the need to lock 'em up!

You have a smart son. I am glad he got his bike back and sorry something couldn't have been done to punish the punk that took it.

Oddly enough, he was with the son of a Sheriff's Deputy but they didn't think to call either his friend's dad or the non-emergency number. Impressed at the way they handled the situation. They called the guy out, pressed him with questions about his "story" (my friend said I could borrow his bike), and told the guy to man-up and admit what he did.

Sounds like a great son. You have a lot to be proud I am sure.
