BWHS Presentation tonight (9/20), 6:30pm for Prescription Opioid and Heroin Epidemic Awareness Week

    The Sheriff's Office is showing "Chasing the Dragon" with panel discussion tonight 9/20/16 at Briar Woods High School. This is a free public event. Pizza and drinks will be provided (limited quantities). Doors open at 6:30 pm.

    The documentary, developed by the FBI – Federal Bureau of Investigation and the DEA, is aimed at educating students and young adults on the growing epidemic of prescription drug and heroin abuse. The documentary will begin at 7 p.m. and will be followed by a panel discussion hosted by NBC Washington reporter Julie Carey. Panelists include the U.S. Attorney and representatives from the DEA, the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, local treatment and recovery experts, along with educators and families impacted by opiate addiction.

    The event will take place in the auditorium at Briar Woods High School, located at 22525 Belmont Ridge Road in Ashburn, Va., from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The event is being coordinated by the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, Fairfax County Police Department, U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia, The Official Loudoun County Public Schools, Loudoun County Department of Mental Health, Substance Abuse and Developmental Services and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
