    Hi all,

Would love to hear who everyone recommends for air cooling HVAC replacement. One of my units is on the fritz. I know about Climactic, but I was hoping for another good company to call as well so I can compare quotes.

Also, what is the going rate for a mid to high level Carrier or Trane system? Our home is about 3400 square feet, typical Broadlands home.

    Thanks for your ideas!

Are you just looking to replace AC? I can only attest to having both original (2002) HVAC units completely replaced in November, so will give you those details. You do get a better deal if willing to give them more business (vs just 1 AC for example), and during shoulder seasons. Our ACs struggled through last year so we knew it was inevitable that we either be proactive to avoid being screwed if one died mid-July. We got a few quotes over the months for mid-range units just to be prepared for the expense. Snell resells Lennox and quoted around $17,500! All-tech was around $14K for I think Carrier. On a whim at Home Depot we had them come out to quote, they partner with ARS. ARS quoted $14K with a $1600 rebate and 12 mo 0% financing through Home Depot for Rheem. We ended up going with them, included humidifier and Nest thermostats and seemed like the best deal we could find.

I just had Climactic here. What a great company. The sales rep was incredible. Anyway, for a typical 3300 square foot Ashburn home, you're looking at around $5,000-6,000 for each cooling unit. The top, top of the line runs another $1,500-2,000 more for each unit (I'm just giving ballpark numbers). If you want to replace the entire system (not including ducts), then you are looking around $14K for the carrier systems. That would include two furnaces and two cooling units. The problem with just replacing a 13 year old cooling unit and not the furnace is the blower is in your furnace --- so if you keep your original furnace, then you still have the old blower which won't be as effective as a new blower. I want to get one more quote but am looking for another good reputable company. So far the only suggestion has been Climactic.

You can try Mann-IX and Pope too. They work with Carrier products mostly.
I have tried reaching out to other local/close to Ashburn companies listed on the Carrier website (authorized dealers), the response has been very average.

We used AllTech Services to replace our system and were very happy. They are primarily a Trane dealer.

We used Temp-a-Tron, and have been very happy with their pricing and work.

I used Cascades Comfort to replace both York ACs and furnaces with HE ones for about 16 grand. Did a great job and the house is much more comfortable.

I replaced the larger of the two units with Bowman HVAC a couple of years ago. They are a small company out of Sterling. Their pricing was competitive. I also signed up with them for a maintenance contract on both systems and have been happy with their service.
